What should I name my bike?
I've come up with several possibilities, which are contained in the poll. I reserve the right to choose the name regardless of poll results, but I am curious what you think. They are presented in alphabetical order so as to disguise my personal favorite (for the moment).

Ruby is not bad.
Personally I just whistle and my bike meets me out front.
It also runs away from would-be thieves.

Poll: should one even bother to name their bike?
1) Yes, because I'm a girl.
2) No, a guy would just fire a snot rocket and ride on.
3) Hey, this is California and I'll name my bike if I want to, you Red State fascist.
4) Just kidding, feeling very snarky because I just got back from the LBS.

Apparantly the early returns do not favor naming the bike...
Just wait 'till the west coast returns start coming in.

Don't be in a hurry to name your bike. If the bike is meant to have a name, it will find its way to you, likely at a moment when you least expect it. When it happens you will know it was meant to be.
Here is a true story: I have a bike that went nameless for many years. Then, several years ago, I was reading a best-selling novel whose heroine was named Ave Maria. This character was spunky but steadfast, romantic but reliable. These are the same qualities that I fancied my bike possessed, and so, the bike was named The Ave Maria.
I wrote to the author about my decision, and she replied that finding out that I named my much loved bike for her central character was deeply flattering and an honor that she would share with her publisher.
I sure get a lot of mileage out of this hobby.

I would name it "the bike" or "my bike". If you have more than one, I'd name it "my road bike" if the other one were a mountain or other type of bike. If you have more than one road bike, I'd name it "my white road bike". If you have more than one white road bike, I'd name it "my new white road bike".
Hope this helps, but I'm the kind of guy who never names machines. Until recently I had two red bikes, but fortunately one was a road bike and the other was a mountain bike so that were their names. Now I have two road bikes, but one is old, the other new(er).
Oh, PS: it is a beautiful bike, don't mean to disparage it at all. I guess I might call it "Whitey"

Hmm ... my Trek520 is called the Black Beast - a bit mean when new but now she's got gravel rash, some modifications and a bit of work under her tyres, it's appropriate.
My horrible hybrid is called the Sow's Ear because you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear no matter how much you modify the rotten thing
My Europa is called the Europa because that's what's on the frame
My mtb is called the Mauve Monster because it's purple and the blokes on my other cycling forum were picking on me and the name's stuck because it's sort of appropriate.
Mate, the bike will name herself. I you have to toss up options, you haven't found the right name and, like my Europa, perhaps it doesn't need one.
Richard

DeeGee, I'm glad you posted that photo of your bike again. I thought so the first time I saw it and now seeing it again I'm sure of it...that bike is screaming for clipless pedals. Steve

In the spirit of British naval boat (dundant) names such as Courageous,
the correct name will be Obstreperous. You are probably asking why
you asked.

I'm in agreement with Blackberry, er, ah, Jet Travis. I wouldn't name it until there comes a time when you look at it and know what its name is. For example, you knew "The Diego" was right for the 1500. If none of these names feel right, then don't force a name on it.

I notice that you've got your bike plugged in. What sort of weirdo California stuff do you have on that rig?
I've been known to name beloved inanimate objects such as pistols and revolvers. The new bike is "Fuji" as Fuji sounds like a decent appellation. "Newest" wouldn't be very cool.
So, Ruby might be as good as any or The White Ruby.
