I rode my age, too!
I rode my age last week, in miles per hour that is. I ride my age regularly, so I couldn't brag about that, so I have to brag about this.
I've ridden faster on my tandem downhill (57), but I hit 55.0 mph on my lowracer on a 2200' long hill at 9% grade. A couple of days earlier, I hit 53.4 on the same hill which was the fastest that I've done on a single bike in a long time, but the 55 mph is by far my best on such a short hill.
I'll be 56 next month, so I'll have to ride over to the hill and do it again.

I can't imagine going that fast on a bike
When I hit 30 the only thing I can think of is how much skin I'm going to lose it I crash

I don't mind the skin but I do object to the bike bouncing along the trail with me still clipped in.
As to speed on the Tandem-53.8 mph offroad. Admittedly on a Fairly smooth grass surface but we did have to slow down half way down- just in case the Gate was closed. Another excuse now- On a Chief Constables ride (Big chief of the Police) and big hill into Brighton. Got into Brighton and everyone raving about what speed they got. "I did 35" "I got 42" etc. The Chief came over and asked what speed we had got. Not trying to put the others down- Stuart said " Jjust a bit faster than the others" Chief was not happy and walked over to the Tandem and checked the Computer. He had got a report from a Motorbike outrider that as he was going down the hill and hit the 40mph speed limit- A Tandem came flying past him at a phenominal speed. "So Whats your excuse for doing 52.8 in a 40 limit"? Stuart replied- "The cars in front of us got in the way"
Luckily he laughed.
