Think of the excalibur artillery, the shell, along with the flight control fins, guidance computer, servos, and power supply, is doing 1500mph at the end of the 6 meter mark, accelerated at 15,000G's of force.

Would someone please go out and try a 1/4 mile sprint? Give us a standard to go by.

Look at the top end sports cars and they are talking less than 5 seconds to get to 60mph. And that is just the Good ones- The "best" ones are a lot faster.

On the standing start against Cars---- I have a route on the Seafront and it has a 30mph speed limit. I often manage to Out drag the cars from Traffic lights up to around 25mph but I have no idea what the time would be. And then you have to slow down again for the traffic that is just out to admire the view- unless you are on a bike where you just shoot up left of them and keep going.

Let see:
A foot race sprinter is at about 27 MPH after 2 seconds.
(I saw the 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 & 90 meter split times for a World Record race)
An Ice speedskater does 100 meters in about the same time as a foot race. But starts much slower and is going about 10 MPH faster at the 200 meter point.
The foot racers maxium speed is that 27 MPH and the speedskaters is 37 MPH.
So, I guess that the speedskater reaches 22 MPH in about 6 or 7 seconds.
A bike should be faster than a speedskater but slower than a foot racer.

I went back and looked at a file recorded from my powertap which shows speed vs. time. This was for a time trial which had a very slight downhill slope for the first 20 feet or so and since it was a time trial I wasnt giving it everything right out of the gate (not that my "everything" would shake the world either). But I was at 22mph in 12 seconds for another data point.

Only one standing start and don't know how hard they went, but it is real data.
