The Sweet Spot in Time
Just got back from The Touring Ride in Rural Indiana, a fine week-long ramble through quiet hills, peaceful valleys and endless cornfields. One of the sweetest moments, one which Crosschain would have dearly loved, was watching the fllm "Breaking Away" the night before we visited Bloomington, a lovely university town where the entire movie was filmed.
The next day, we visited the "Little 500" track, the site the climax event of the film and stopped by a number of other locations that were part of this wonderful move. Following Dave Stoeller's wheel was a sweet spot in time that brought me back to my youth. It was delightful meeting our own Monoborracho. Sadly, he had to leave the trip early for personal reasons. Hope all is well with him and that we will see him down the road soon. |
Great!! Hadn't seen you posting in a while and now can understand why. Seems like you make this an annual trip or am I confusing another ride you do???
Glad you had a chance to get up with Mono as well. |
Well well well. A trip through a great midwestern state. I'll betcha it was a very sweet spot in time indeed.

IU at Bloomington is a beautiful campus. I love the cut stone buildings, and their relationship to the movie. I can appreciate the feelings of the "cutters" toward the campus.
Sounds like you had a great time. |
Am I going to have to revive my double post curse thread?

Sounds like you had a great time. The scene where Dave is riding behind the Cinzano truck at, like, 40 or 50 mph, on the small chainring, is very exciting. |
