Dumb lyrics stuck in my head...

Was out riding, when suddenly "Horse with no name" came into my head. I nominate this song as a candidate for the dumbest, most idiotic lyrics of all time. Any other nominations?

On the first part of the journey
I was looking at all the life
There were plants and birds and rocks and things What clever words!
There was sand and hills and rings Rings???
The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And the sky with no clouds
The heat was hot and the ground was dry
But the air was full of sound

Ive been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
cause there aint no one for to give you no pain "for to give you" huh?
La, la ...

After two days in the desert sun
My skin began to turn red
After three days in the desert fun
I was looking at a river bed
And the story it told of a river that flowed
Made me sad to think it was dead

You see Ive been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
cause there aint no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...

After nine days I let the horse run free
cause the desert had turned to sea
There were plants and birds and rocks and things
There was sand and hills and rings
The ocean is a desert with its life underground Huh??
And a perfect disguise above
Under the cities lies a heart made of ground Huh??
But the humans will give no love

You see Ive been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
cause there aint no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...

Obviously, you remember the 60's, as opposed to having experienced them.

You remembered all the lyrics! Apparently the 70's were drug free. That is better than having the Elmo Ladybug counting song stuck in your head. Must have grandkids to understand.

When I'm biking, the lyrics from the 70's that usually get struck in my head are:

I've been a running down the road
Tryin' to loosen my load
I've got seven women on my mind.
Four that want to own me
Two that want to stone me
And one says she's a friend of mine.

Take it easy. take it easy
Down't let the sound of your own wheels
Drive you crazy.

Lighten up while you still can
And try to understand.
Just find a place to make your stand, and
Take It Easy.

You need to listen to "Burn" by Deep Purple. Now.

Maybe we should do a thread about songs we all hate. I'd say anything by the Captain and Tennile, and "Lovin You", by Minnie Ripperton, qualify.

Interesting. The last three days I've been listening to America a lot ("I need you", "never found the time', "riverside"). None of their words make sense, just like Leo Kottke.

I find this melding of the minds with DG across the country disturbing.

BTW, if you want to seek vengence upon your children for any reason, play America loudly for them. I don't think anyone under 30 gets that music at all.

"Neil Young done badly" seems overly redundant to me.

Here, DG, this will make "Horse with No Name" go away!

Statler Brothers: Flowers on the Wall

I keep hearin' you're concerned about my happiness
But all that thought you're givin' me is conscience I guess
If I was walkin' in your shoes, I wouldn't worry none
While you 'n' your friends are worried about me I'm havin' lots of fun

Countin' flowers on the wall
That don't bother me at all
Playin' solitaire till dawn with a deck of fifty-one
Smokin' cigarettes and watchin' Captain Kangaroo
Now don't tell me I've nothin' to do

Last night I dressed in tails, pretended I was on the town
As long as I can dream it's hard to slow this swinger down
So please don't give a thought to me, I'm really doin' fine
You can always find me here, I'm havin' quite a time

Countin' flowers on the wall
That don't bother me at all
Playin' solitaire till dawn with a deck of fifty-one
Smokin' cigarettes and watchin' Captain Kangaroo
Now don't tell me I've nothin' to do

It's good to see you, I must go, I know I look a fright
Anyway my eyes are not accustomed to this light
And my shoes are not accustomed to this hard concrete
So I must go back to my room and make my day complete

Countin' flowers on the wall
That don't bother me at all
Playin' solitaire till dawn with a deck of fifty-one
Smokin' cigarettes and watchin' Captain Kangaroo
Now don't tell me I've nothin' to do

Don't tell me I've nothin' to do

+1
I always thought that band (America) suffered from severely low testoterone levels. They would probably never pass a Tour de France drug screening.
They were right in there with Bread. ack!

Dumb Lyrics? Surely, some of you remember (all 7+ minutes) of MacArthur Park.

Spring was never waiting for us, girl, it ran one step ahead as we followed in the dance,
Between the parted pages that were pressed,
A love hot fevered like a striped pair of pants,
MacArthur Park is melting in the dark, all the sweet, green icing flowing down.
Someone left the cake out in the rain,
I don't think I could take it, `cause it took so long to bake it,
And I'll never have that recipe again, oh no!

My car music has been Bob Dylan "Blonde on Blonde" recently. Feeling the urge to buy a leopard skin pillbox helmet.

What list of stupid lyrics could be complete without some Zappa?

Dreamed I was an Eskimo
Frozen wind began to blow
Under my boots and around my toes
The frost that bit the ground below
It was a hundred degrees below zero...

And my mama cried
And my mama cried
Nanook, a-no-no
Nanook, a-no-no
Don't be a naughty Eskimo
Save your money, don't go to the show

Well I turned around and I said "Oh, oh" Oh
Well I turned around and I said "Oh, oh" Oh
Well I turned around and I said "Ho, Ho"
And the northern lights commenced to glow
And she said, with a tear in her eye
"Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow"
"Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow"

I like the music and it has only one word in the song, TEQUILA! So it probably doesn't fit this thread but imagine having that stuck in your head.

For all you fanilows out there...

"Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha
And while she tried to be a star, Tony always tended bar
Across a crowded floor, they worked from 8 till 4
They were young and they had each other
Who could ask for more?

At the Copa, Copacabana
The hottest spot north of Havana
At the Copa, Copacabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa....they fell in love"
