Where do you usually ride?

Trying again on my poll. This time will try to remember to allow multiple choices.

Hope I included most of the major places to ride. If I left yours out, please vote for "Other" and post a message on where you ride.

Tom Bombadil 09-27-07 07:02 PM

Remember, you can vote for more than one!

Urban Roads ,Sub-divisions,MUPs , I guess that just about cover them all pretty near. I wish we had MUP around here where a person could go all day if they wanted. Quite is what I like.

Chicago rules - vote early and often

markc999 09-27-07 07:46 PM

I liked the other poll better, think I'm gonna go hang out there.

Digital Gee 09-27-07 07:50 PM

HOw many times can we vote?

Tom Bombadil 09-27-07 07:52 PM

You can only vote once, but you can vote for up to all 10 choices with that one vote.

Just found a really cool trail last weekend. It is adjacent to Annadel Park. Few cars, mostly paved, but a little unpaved. And dirt trails off the paved trail. Some people rode for a while on the paved trail, and would take off down a dirt trail on their MTBs. What fun! I found myself wanting to follow them.

Good poll Tom, for once, somebody covered all of the bases. Dnvr, pay attention to how it is done....

zacster 09-27-07 08:40 PM

Nobody but me rides in parks? In NYC we have Prospect Park, Central Park, and others in the Bronx, Queens and Staten Island that are all pretty heavily used for riding.

The San Francisco Bay Trail goes through many parks. I rode some of it last Sunday, and will be riding some of it again this Sunday.

If there's pavement, that's where I ride.

If I was doing this poll, I would have put a category in for ice biking. There is a whole web site on that,

http://www.icebike.org/

but the dolt who wrote the poll left it out!

Every good poll should have an all of the above box.

And none of the above.

Mostly housing tracts and secondary roads (two lane), and paved and
unpaved MUP's.

maddmaxx 09-28-07 04:53 AM

I'm not complaining about the poll. I find that I am poll challenged.

Why can't we vote more than once?

Coyote! 09-28-07 05:32 AM

National Parks [in the US] are good, too.

One of my favorite and interesting warm-up rides is the outer grassy perimeter of an industrial park that butts up against the local MUP. It's about three miles of hills and obstacles. It's a good Sunday AM ride because I've got it all to myself except for the critters.

stevemtbr 09-28-07 05:34 AM

If I'm not 50 so do my votes count? I'm still a young wipper snapper at 43. :D

"Vote early, vote often."

When I first started riding again this summer I spent a lot of time riding on a paved closed course that is open only to skaters and cyclists. You can't go fast, usually, but it is pretty safe. It's 3.1 miles around the loop and it meanders through rolling terrain inside a wooded tract. You see interesting wildlife, too. Snakes, roadrunners, raccoons, squirrels, enormous spiders on their webs, etc. It's a nice course, but it does get boring after a while going around and around. I am riding more on rural roads these days, now that I'm able to keep pace.

Me too. I'm afraid that if I even try to start a poll either my head or my computer will explode. I wonder if we can have a poll about people are poll-o-phobic.

That IS an option in this practically perfect poll, just check every box.:D

Tom's practically perfect poll has that option covered too. :D

Coming soon: A poll about best poll.

maddmaxx 09-28-07 10:09 AM

If everyone was still on dialup this would be a telephone poll!

That's a park, you can vote for park. The descriptions were meant to be helpful guides, not all inclusive definitions.

But I do tend to think of a ride in a national park to be a different beast than a ride in a neighborhood park. Typically much longer & more challenging. Such a ride might be more accurately classified as a ride on a rural road or off-road, if it is on one of those long off-road park trails.

If I allowed you to vote even once, then my poll has failed me.
