Easier Aquabike for 50+ 'rs?

Easier Aquabike for 50+ 'rs?

I have been learning that there is such a thing as Aquabike - swimming and biking, like a triathlon without running.

There will be one near me soon, but it is 56 miles and 1.2 miles of swimming - way beyond what I want to do right now.

Anyone know much about aquabiking, and have you heard of any "easier" (less distance) ones?

The only one I know about locally is at the Timberman Triathlon in New Hampshire. But it is the same distances that you mention, so I guess that is not much help. Sorry.

or an easier

Good luck with the event, though.

They halved the bike race, halved the swim, eliminated the run, and you want it easier?

I have seen "Senior" events that had a 400m swim, 20km bike ride, and 5km run. AARP was sponsoring some a few years ago.
https://seniorjournal.com/NEWS/Fitnes...PTriathlon.htm

They had a series of these in several cities back in 2002 & 2003, don't know if these are still happening.

Sounds pretty easy to me. I'd drown during the swim part and wouldn't have to do the bike. I'd be finished before everybody.

I thought the same thing. I can't swim. If a 50m pool was 8' deep, I don't know how I'd get across it. Here in Wisconsin I'd wait for winter, then cross it after it froze.

What I was really looking for was swim across a bathtub and 10 revolutions on the stationary bike.

Couldn't find that!

That would be an AquaTrike. Looks like it has some kinda composite wheels/paddles.

Something for Everyone!!!

How wonderful. I just had bilateral knee surgery and can't run anymore. Just today I was lamenting about that, and my husband said find something where you only swim and bike. I thought right: I just learned how to swim last year, and am now learning how to bike. I won't live long enough to be able to do one of those IF I could find one. A biathlon, I thought.

So, this little event sounds just my speed.

Now, we're talking. I'll do it my way:
I'll dunk myself in my jet tub (15 minutes), run downstairs (4 flights) , and then hop on the Spinner in the basement (slow spin for an hour while watching Star Trek reruns).

Wait, I'd better do that in reverse. With these old knees, I'll need the dunking after I run up the stairs. So, it' Spin, Stairs, Dunk.
