New Sticky - Please Contribute

YOUR GREAT IDEAS ARE NEEDED!!

We have a new sticky directed at beginning and returning bicyclists.

Please contribute you thoughts and ideas that might be helpful to a beginning or returning 50+ cyclist.

Do so at:

http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=348528

We only have a few ideas so far - about 15, yet I know there are many more great suggestions out there.

What would you have liked to know as a beginning/returning 50+ cyclist?

Please feel free to add more.

OK, I would suggest just a mediocre idea, then.

Perhaps you could write that as some sort of advice for new bicyclers?

card 10-01-07 04:04 PM

Perhaps put an index (similar to a poll) on FAQ's to link the new riders and returnees to a place where their questions have already been asked. How many B17 , clipless pedal, bib shorts, "what bike should I buy", best computer, carbon vs steel, hybrid vs road bike,.................threads are out there. You have a wealth of info for an index.

JMHO and $.02 worth

"obnoxious twit" has nothing to do with cliqueiness. It has to do with rudeness.

For some very weird reason this thread reminds me of two things they told me on the first day of medical school, on a very cold day back in 1974.

1) "Gentlemen (they were very sexist back then), at least half of everything we teach you will some day be proven wrong", and
2) "Look to your left. Now look to your right. It a short while, one of you won't be here".

Do you know yet which half was wrong? I mean, it might make a really big difference the next time I have a medical problem. Like, "Hey Doc, which 1/2 of the stuff you just told me is wrong?:D"

Talk about a thread being hijacked. Wow!
