Keep those wheels spinning when you can. Hurry back. Good luck with your problems.

Things which I have worked very long and hard to improve, although I can only influence them indirectly, are actually getting worse than ever.

I'll keep riding when I can and hope to be back soon. It's just hard to take pleasure in something, when all of this "stuff" continues to deteriorate, with no end in sight. At least, no satisfactory end. Thanks for listening.

I look forward to the return of the "Digital Gee -ly remastered" Digital Gee. Good luck.

I also am dealing with a rough end of year, see http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=361922, my way of dealing with things is to let the initial impact hit and then try to step back and put things in perspective. Obviously with no knowledge of your problem this may or may not help but for me if I can focus on everyone is healthy, no one is homeless and kids have to sort out their own lives at some point I can get to the point where the problems don't drag me down. Keep riding as this is the one thing you can do for yourself that will make your problems go away even for a short period.

Take care and good luck

Ray

I won't either - no need, those who get it, know! The rest - pffft

Thinking of you, and sending wishes for courage and strength - you've got a lot of friends here.

Eat well, keep the body working well

Judging by your recently diminished posts, I thought there may have been some issues. Best of luck and hurry back. The 50+ Forum won't be the same without you. Steve

Hey Gary:

Three things to say here:

1. Always remember you can only be responsible for what you do, others are responsible for what they choose. Hard as it is to accept, you can't own or solve somebody else's problems for them.

2. Though sometimes painful, life is great. Try to leave enough time to realize that.

3. Hang in there and just keep showing up, you'll be fine in the end.

You have a lot of friends here, even if we have never met fact to face, we are with you. If it will help, I'll paint a bike white for you, just let me know.

peter_d 11-13-07 09:54 AM

Hi Gary, i don't find it easy to talk about personal stuff but the times that i have been able to i've invariably found that it helps. From the responses here i think there would be a number of good listeners you could unburden to.
Hang in.

SaiKaiTai 11-13-07 10:26 AM

If you're not here, who's going to post complete and total non-sequiters in my thread?
Well, I'll manage and I'll just keep posting, waiting for your return.
I will not paint my bike white for you, though.

Hang tough, guy! Lean on us, we're here for you.

CrossChain 11-13-07 10:29 AM

Not sure if this place has a (lame joke) soul, Gary, but you are in many ways the heart of our forum.........my best thoughts for you towards some resolution or, failing all else, your adjustment to your circumstances. Not to mention, we're all hoping to get you back as soon as possible. People have said some very nice things here because they care a lot for you. That, and we've all, by 50 plus, had a fair share of difficulties.........lots of empathy. No matter what, Take Care!

stapfam 11-13-07 10:38 AM

Just face it DG. If you can ride a white bike- you can get over a lot of things so Paint the bike black while you'r away and get back quick.

Little Darwin 11-13-07 10:39 AM

Well, there goes the neighborhood!!! ;)

You will be missed until you get back Gary.

Along with cycling, for me music has power to improve my mood and make difficulties easier to deal with.

I just bought the Eagles new CD, and if you like the Eagles, I would suggest it as a good listen. Some of the songs have messages that help me, maybe you'll find the same!

Just avoid music that pulls you the other way. When I am depressed, I need to avoid certain music, like Pink Floyd... When "Wish You Were Here" with its dark mood is the closest they have to a happy song, I avoid it when I am feeling down.

For me it is Classical to relax, and Rock to get pumped up, and some Pop to cheer up. Your mileage may vary.

Will eagerly await your return, and as my user title says, "This too shall pass."

Long deKlein 11-13-07 11:41 AM

A grumpy DG? Inconceivable! Whatever may be going on, extensive application of things that make you laugh will at least help a bit. Paging Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard.....

LynnH 11-13-07 12:49 PM

DG-I will miss you too, good luck getting things handled!

Pamestique 11-13-07 01:53 PM

DG - you know we need you here and you will be missed. It's not the same without you no matter what DFox says :-P...

Take care,

Pam

After you have been off for a while pop back in and lurk for a few days. You may find that the board can serve as a touch of therapy. Also, a little venting is always OK.

Move to a different state.

Personally, I've found the state of Denial to be a good place to go when things aren't going well.

Isn't the state of De Nile in Egypt?

We know where you live, and don't forget--you're fighting the single finest cycling force ever assembled.

Look after yourself mate. Work on wearing out that white bike. The last few years have been the lowest in my life and I've plumbed some pretty good lows. Exercise is a great natural anti-depressant, but so is just enjoying the ride.

As others have suggested, lurk and post when you want to. There's no requirement that your posts be deeply technical or highly worthy, just play the ratbag card for a bit :D

The whiteness of his bike has probably contributed to his woes.

I didn't like to comment but ... ;)

Richard

black bike, blue bike, green bike, red bike, red and **gasp** white bike (that's the one I don't like incidentally ;))

jppe 11-13-07 07:22 PM

I feel his pain but............

maybe a poll is needed on how long he'll actually be taking a break.

I bet it's not long. Once away from here, he'll realize the rest of the world is even crazier than we are.
