Torture Chamber
OK - I said I would post a picture of my third bike the Gary Fisher Kaitai, here it is as it currently sits until spring, being used for indoor riding. Of course it is red - what other color would I own?

I'm afraid I'll have to subject Uncle Duke to a similar inglorious fate soon.

I guess I can't complain. It was sunny today, but I had to wear three layers for my commute in the morning. It dropped below 50 for the first time this year.
Trainer: Don't know if I could do it. |

Hard to give up the out-of-doors for early dark and fog and rain. Upper 40's at 7:00 this morning, sky crystal clear, air sharp, every autumn leaf still on the trees was etched. More invigorating than the inside of my garage with the History Channel teaching me about the Vandals, or the development of the steam shovel, or Coach Troy walking around wit his stop watch telling me to shift up.

That red is not a startling red- Are you certain it hasn't been contaminated by getting near a white bike.
I suppose I am lucky living in a temperate clime but I should think I can ride 48 weeks of the year. Night rides are Great if you have the right lamps- but 6 ft of Snow does make it a bit difficult to keep the pedals turning. All you have to do now is set the TV and Betamax up with the right videos and the training begins. |
It's interesting how we are all drawn to certain colors and color will even help us choose a bike.
Last year (2006) I bought myself a new full suspension mountain bike - A Specialized Stumpjumper FSR. The color was a brilliant bright red. Not a color I would normally select but the bike was a deal and the color was pretty. Not 2 weeks into owning the bike, I broke my arm on a descent. I had another bad crash and ripped open my leg and later got cancer (not bike related but now I blame everything on that bike). It came to be known as the "blood bike". Just before the year ended, I sold the "bike of death" with it's ugly blood color and bought a indigo blue Santa Cruz Superlight. It matches my other bikes which are all blue, silver, black or a combo of each. I am just so much happier and for some strange reason, healthier. No more blood colored bikes for me! :( |

Don't bother about colour but often feel that MTB's ought to be Mud coloured. Mind you- when I got the Bianchi- there had to be only one colour- Celeste.

Gotta ask--what fork is on the KaiTai? I have an old RockShox Quad 5 in my shed that looks very similar, except for the brace.
|
It's the stock fork, it says Manitou on it. I bought this bike new about '96 and have never changed anything on it.
