50-plussers in the news

One of our local newspapers interviewed me last week, and sent a photographer to get an action shot. The story made the front page of Monday's paper! Whoo-hoo! We're stoked! Gotta love free publicity and better yet, gotta love that people see the worth in advocating cycling and everyday people who cycle.

Excellent! Good job and tell your husband that good stokers are priceless. You really deserve the new bike.

Great story, reminiscent of Methodism's Bicycling Bishop, the Rev. Mary Ann Swenson, who did a transcontinental crossing on a tandem with her husband, Jeff. Thanks for sharing!

Wow Red Rider, you live in Vacaville! That's great!

You don't have that long drive to Pena Adobe Park for the start of the Knoxville Double! You are so lucky! We have a seven hour drive from SoCal to Vacaville, but for the Knoxville Double, it's worth it.

That's my favorite double and the Quacks (you do know the Quacks?) take such good care of the riders, plus it's a lovely course. One of my favorite parts is descending off the first big climb into the Napa Valley and then watching the hot air baloons rise up just after dawn.

Well, I love the whole ride, really . . . it's all good. I've ridden the Knoxville Double four times and I will be back in 2008!

For those of you who don't live in Vacaville, here's the link: http://www.quackcyclists.com/

That is a GREAT shot. It's all speed, action and make-way-for-these-50-plussers-or-we'll-blow-by-you-so-fast-the-air-will-get-sucked-out-of-your-tires. If you haven't already, get a blow up from the newspaper and have it framed.

I thought it was funny that the text under the photo pointed out that Deborah was on the right (like we needed a clarifying statement). Very nice article! And boy, that is one way to put the pressure on for the Christmas present. I think Deborah deserves it too - she has been a very good girl this year.

Great, great article!! It sounded like the writer did a terrific job of accurately capturing your "spirit". The only thing that would have made it totally complete if the picture included Chris and you blazing along in your 50+ jerseys!!!

Hey, that's nice. Always good to put such a positive face on cycling for the general public to see. Front page, no less. Good job. But I'm afraid clients are going to give a hard look at your commissions when they see that you are considering such an expensive bike.
