Pro Training Schedule

I found this and thought it might be of interest. While I am not into racing I am always looking for a more structured fittness program. Lists 12 month program but not down to the detail of mileage, etc.

Thought it was very interesting that alot of cross training is used and Mt. biking in the off season.

Assume you know what it is! I used it alot when running was my primary fittness activity. Very fast way to get into shape. Run fast, walk, jog, run as your fittness level allows. The name fartlek does not evoke good thing in english but I am pretty sure the translation is: run, walk.

It means "speed play" in Swedish. It's all good, and if you do it right, it will kick your butt. But that's a good thing... BTW, you can adapt the principle of fartlek to almost any aerobic exercise- I actually do it on my NordicTrack skier. It's basically the same as interval training.

Good stuff, oilman. My most strenuous training for the next month will be walking my Chihuahuas. I'll be looking for something structured when I return to real training.

Edit: I just realized that I've mentioned my Chihuahuas in both of my posts tonight. Do you suppose 5 days in the hospital has me missing my dogs?
