At age 75, at 5'7", weight is the same as it was a dozen years ago when I retired:135.
Consider myself 'plump' as back in the 70s my racing weight was 118.
Going further back to 1947 when is was 14 1/2 years old and came to the US from war-torn Europe, I weighed in @ 60 lbs. Amazing what 4 years of Nazi starvation can do to a growing-up kid!
Many Americans need to loose a bit of 'heft' . . . sedentary living, fast food and bad eating habits all contibute America's health issues.

I can relate. I gained a couple in the past few weeks. I noticed that my middle seems a little thicker. I'm still exercising (tho' less than I was), so...... what's the problem? I think it's the big handful of roasted almonds I eat 2x/day for my morning and afternoon snacks. I'm switching to low-fat plain yogurt mixed with blueberries and a little cinnamon. I'll limit the almonds to just a few (4-5) with my oatmeal in the morning.

Current weight is 142; goal is 135.

Well, it's been more than a year since I started trying to lose weight and I'm almost to where I thought I wanted to be. I think that another 5 ± 2 pounds will be about right for me. The trick then will be to find a way to maintain that level.

Kind of off topic -

When I was told I probably had throat cancer on June 5th, the doctors advised me to put on some weight as I would lose a lot during treatment. I was 205 lbs. at that time.

Problem was I spent the next week riding 420 miles on BRAG and then had a surprise tracheotomy during my biopsy on June 16th. For over a week I had a hard time eating without having painful coughing fits. When things improved and I was able to eat better I left my hard learned better eating habits behind and set out to eat as much and as often as possible in hopes of getting over 200 before starting treatments.

Today I weighed in before my first day of chemo treatment at 201 lbs.

It's hard for me to believe but at one time in my life I was actually underweight. You don't have to abandon those healthy eating habits. Just add lots of high calorie food such as peanut butter

Just got back from 10 days of vacation and gained 4 lbs to put me at 194. At that rate of gain it wont be long before I'm visiting the Clydesdale page again! I've got to get back to my regular eating habit and schedule. My goal is to be 185 at the end of the Summer when I go to my college Track and Field Team Alumni Reunion and weigh the same as 35 years ago.

Forgot to post yesterday. Within one pound of where I finished last year, so hopefully I'll finally get into some new territory. That just may happen Thursday, if I can get myself to wake up early enough for a "Seasoned Spokes" ride at 0800. Washed my 50+ jersey so I'm ready. Probably should get to bed before 0230, so buy.

I was 232 in late April
Dropped to 226 by late may
Hit 216 in mid june and stayed there for all of june and july.
Weighed in (my scale, Docs scale,Health clubs scale-I work part time at the club-)last friday.
Am currently at 205 )
