Mini Craigslist Rant...

One: Why can't people remember to put the SIZE of their bike for sale in the ad? This saves unnecessary back and forth emailing.

Two: What's with people on size, anyway? I can't begin to estimate the number of ads where the size of the bike, when it's listed at all, is listed as "26 inches."

Geesh!

Okay, mini-rant over.

Last week over 2/3rds of our listings didn't post the size. I got annoyed while sitting on the couch with aching back and counted them.

Yeah - we were trying to find a bike for our son. We had no way of knowing which bikes would fit a kid and which would fit my 6'6" brother!!

Just tonight I found one that said nothing more than "Trek bike for sale - $200."

How do you expect the ad to look of someone that doesn't ride normally, only after they've just taken a bike that doesn't belong to them?

To the layman "26 inch" is an adult size bike. Period.
It probably refers to the wheel size which they think is 26 inch.

The few times I've sold a bike on Craig's List, I've purposefully not put the size. I figured, after seeing all the "26 inch bike" posts and the lack of sizing info that my target market would get confused...so I put the size of the person the the bike would fit. If I was going to list an expensive bike, then I would put the sizes in.

I know when I first started, the differences between mountain/comfort/roadbike sizing was really confusing to me.
