I am USPS retired. One day I was emptying the mailbox at the court house. My neighbor, a county comissioner came by and as we were saying hi a big bang coming from the direction of the post office. He says what the heck was that, and I said weapons training at the P O. Back when all the shootings were happening it seemed like we were like the mafia, we only shot our own.

I always hate to hear those stories. But I certainly respect those who deal with it and come back as strong or stronger.

Running - the knees would not take the pounding any longer
Sailing - we moved ashore, sold the boat and bought a house
Motorcycle - now I ride my bicycle everywhere and the motor just sits
Tennis - was playing 7 days a week but now have to split my time playing and riding. If I only ride 100 mi/week then I can still play tennis 3 or 4 days a week. Choices!

Cycling could turn into an item on this list if I don't keep doing interesting things with the bike. if I were working then just spending an hour on the bike would be time well spent. Now I try to make the hour on the bike fit into an overall program. For me it has been long distance touring.
