One-Bike Rear Bumper Racks for 2001 Grand Marquis?

It is an adventure in fear ... to watch my wife drive our Grand Marquis in reverse. Let it just be said that it would be best to minimize the Grand Marquis coming into contact with other cars ... by having as small a bike rack as possible on the rear bumper.

I'm too short to deal with roof-mounted bike racks, so the rear bumper is the way to go. Are there quality racks ... yet small for just one bike ... available for a 2001 Grand Marquis? I don't have a hitch on the car yet, so I could put either a 1.125" or 2" hitch on the car.

Is it an oxymoron to describe quality-manufacture ... yet small ... rear bumper bike racks for just one bike?

You might want to take a look at the Hollywood Sport Rider rack. Although it is for 2 bikes, it folds up into a verticle package when not in use and makes for a much smaller footprint behind the car. It is available under that name at Pricepoint.com and under other house names at other places.

What about a trunk rack? I really like the Saris Bones 2.

Saris Bones 2 or 3 to be sure. But on a large car like the Marquis, if it has a hitch, there are options for a hitch mounted bike rack and most of them are STOUT! Yakima, Thule and Saris all make some for this purpose.
