50+ Weight Loss Challenge Monday mornings- Anyone Else?

Week 0 (08/21/2006) - 221.5 lbs
Week 1 (08/28/2006) - 217.0 lbs (-4.5 lbs from week 0)
Week 2 (09/04/2006) - 216.0 lbs (-5.5 lbs from week 0)

Should we mail this in to DnvrFox for consolidation by Tuesday?
No need to email to me.

If we could put things in the above format, it would make it a bit easier.

============================================================================

50+ Weight Loss Challenge Monday mornings - Anyone Else?

I lost just about 20 pounds last year, but am not being successful in losing that final 20 pounds.

I want to get under the 200 pound mark.

This morning I weighed 221.5.

So, I am going to join Weight Watchers (tonight) - which I used successfully many years ago to get under 200.

I am not asking for a lot of advice about HOW to lose weight. Please.

And, I am going to post my weekly Monday morning weight here for ALL to see. Gain or lose or stay the same, I will bare it all! And likely I will post a graph of the changes.

Anyone else want to join me in this venture of posting your weight here each Monday?

My results would look the same every week and get pretty boring. In 2005 I lost about 13-15lbs and rode a little over 1,500 miles.
This year I have lost about 3-4lbs and have already ridden over 1,800 miles and no I am not eating uncontrollably. It's just the closer I get to my ideal weight, approx 150lbs, (currently I am approx. 157-159lbs) the slower the pounds seem to be in coming off. I believe in part that I have gained muscle weight in my thighs this year which is offsetting a continued loss of fat elsewhere. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I'll enter my initial weight next week, but I am in!

Starting point will be 320ish, down from 421.5, aiming for 210 so I can say I am half the man I used to be... I will aim lower after I get there (sub-200), but 210 is my next significant goal...

I weighed 154 when I joined the Marines in 1975, but I don't think I will ever see that again... If I get down to my post-bootcamp 175 I would be tickled pink!

I will glady cheer you folks on.
I lost 90 lbs about 7 years ago
and have kept it off by riding.

I couldn't post on weight issues
without telling you how I did it.
Whey Protein powder smoothies
with skim milk. See the pages at:
https://www.wheyoflife.org for all
the incredible health benefits of
Whey Protein Powder under the
BENEFITS and IN THE NEWS sections
of the Menu items in purple on the
left hand side of page.

I still use this stuff and it is keeping
me trim and fit. I highly recommend
it for the health value and as a weight
loss agent.

Can I put my post's in for the next 3 months? 147lbs + or - 2 lbs- depending on whether I went out for a meal the night before.

Sorry about that but I rarely vary in weight- What I do vary on is how my legs can cope with a monday morning after the Sundays ride- so I will follow you with interest and translate it to effort expended over the weekend to how shattered I am on a monday.

I'm in!!! I had my surgery, purchased a trainer, started a move (packing, selling, selling and more selling) and didn't do a darn thing. I gained about 8 pounds since the surgery and that is it! Count me in!!!!

I weighed in at 210 yesterday and want to get to 190 and lower my cholesterol.

PS: Someone should suggest she get appropriate riding shorts or someone might have an accident!

I'll join.

I didn't weigh myself this morning, so I won't post anything for today, but I will start weighing myself next week.

Might be just what I need.

178 this morning, a ways above the 165 I hit a few months back but a ways down from the 210 I was a little over a year ago. Haven't been putting in the miles during the week, too damn hot here in Houston after work. Time to start riding the trainer in the garage with the fans on and a picture of my lovely drafting partner that was posted above. Shouldn't take more than about twenty miles of loops in the Holiday Inn Express parking lot before I catch her, then the exercise really starts .

Naaah, more like a dog chasing a car. Not quite sure what to do if it actually stops ....

This is an evil thread trick, Denver, but I'm in. Since I went to Weight Watchers this evening, I'll post my weight: 202.6 (down 16.4 ponds so far).

Count me in as well, all though I did not weight-in this morning, I did get on the scale after dinner. Bad thing to do. 210#. Oh, well! Need to work on the diet. I can post my weight on the next 2 Monday's, but will miss a couple of Mondays after that, as I will be on my Big Ride down the Pacific Coast, Seattle to San Francisco. Maybe I'll lose a few pounds on that ride.

This is very timely. I lost 27 pounds on Weight Watchers a couple of years ago then decided that I could do it on my own. I apparently needed the crutch of the meetings and the weekly weigh in. I put 17 pounds back on.

I'm a day late, but I am starting at 223.

This is a great idea. I started my recent weight loss campaign on May 1 this year. My initial weight was pushing 230lbs. I started on the South Beach diet and was riding my Cannondale MTB around my development (1.5 mile loop) 2-3 times a week. I progressed to about 10 miles 3-4 times per week. Then on July 8 I purchased a CF Road bike and have been on 24 mile daily rides (16 time loops) and am now down to 180lbs. I have clocked well over 700 miles on my road bike. I discovered that "the need for speed" can be very motivating for me. My best time for 10 loops (a little over 15 miles) has been 54 minutes and 33 seconds. My goal before the summer is out is to get it to be sub-54 minutes.

My greatest fear is that with the cold weather coming I will not be able to keep up this pace.

This sounds fun, I'm in @ 242.5 this morning. I want to lose enough that I don't slober so much climbing these hills

8/21/06 Week 0: 225.2
8/28/06 Week 1: 221.6 (-3.6 from week 0)
9/4/06 Week 2: 216.8 (-8.4 from week 0)

I’m not an official member of this forum (I’m only 48), but if you can all forgive that minor shortcoming, I’m in.

As of 8/21, I weighed 225.2. My goal is 180. I’ve lost 171 pounds from my starting point of 396 in January of 2005, but I’ve been stuck in the 220-230 range for months. Despite being stuck, I’ve dropped 2 inches off my waist and ½ an inch off my collar size, so I think my cycling has caused me to trade muscle for fat.

At least that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.

There are several people that are not quite to the magical age of 50 yet, I am one of them... At 49.5 years old, I am getting close.

I fit in with this crowd, regardless of my age, so they are stuck with me...

Welcome!

For all those that might need a way of tracking your progress go to www.Fitday.com. I got this website from Training and Nutrion forum and it helped me go from 158 to 145. Still going down to 142. Easy to start a free account, with no catch.

Well, since I quit drinking Pepsi my belt seems to be getting looser. But since I don't have a scale, I'll pass.
