All I wanted to do when I posted this thread was to get a feel for what people were feeling on the subject. I stated my opinion, and am now aware others are feeling differently. That's fine. I just wanted to have a discussion on the subject.

That's why I ended the OP with the question, "What do you think?"

It's not how I feel when I get on the bike, it's how I feel when I get off the bike. :)

I live in L.A., and do most of my riding in heavy traffic and bike paths that run along several schools. Near misses are a daily occurance. As much as love to ride, I'm also made aware of my fragility at almost every turn.

Additionally, my comments were in repsonse to the question posed to me:

Also...

That can be arranged! Talk to my agent... :D:D:D

I never got my autographed poster of Monica.............even though I asked politely almost a year ago.

1. Far from being reminded how fragile I am when I ride, I am reminded how great it is to be the center of the universe

One of the most fundamental freedoms of all is the ability to click "Next." If a topic doesn't interest you, or reminds you too much of the fragility of life, don't read it.

I said this in the OP...

The obvious response would be to simply ignore such threads and move on, but the phrase "cyclist fatality" is pretty hard to overlook.

Then I said it again...

Again, a thread titled "Cycling Fatality" is impossible to ignore on an emotional level, for me at least.

Now, for the third time...if a thread is titled "Cyclist Fatality" it's hard for me to simply ignore.

But, you've all made your point.

IF I DON'T LIKE THE THREAD, I WILL IGNORE IT.
