OT: some pics from my vacation last week

I took a scuba diving vacation to Curacao last week with my sister, and for the first time I got some decent pictures with my Canon point and shoot in an underwater housing. Thought I'd share them. I'll make this cycling related by saying that the resort had four mountain bikes available for rent.

My favorite, a four-eyed butterflyfish looking right at me.

My other favorite, a juvenile trunkfish (with a feather duster.) This is only the third time I've seen this fish in 27 years of diving, and the first time I've found one on my own. It's the size of a pea.

My third favorite, a juvenile spotted drum.

Six squid swimming in formation.

Christmas tree worms.

A view of an eel's mouth.

A banded coral shrimp in some colorful coral and sponges.

Neet. Don't they have some kind of pro bike event in Curaco, also. Curaco is supposed to be a desert like climate.?

It's a Canon Powershot SD630 with an underwater housing. This is the first time that I've gotten more than one or two decent pictures. I think it's because I finally figured out that I need to set it so the flash goes off every time, rather than relying on the automatic setting.

They won't bother you if you don't bother them. I've only seen an eel attack a diver once, and it was being taunted with food.

Yep, it's an amazing world underwater.

I didn't know about it, but yes, there's the Amstel Curacao Race. It is a desert climate, but at this time of year we got a bit of rain every day.

What beautiful pictures! You did a great job with a point and shoot. The color saturation is gorgeous.

Cgallagh scuba dove in Curacao, and I snorkled, but we have no pictures. This is great!

Oh, Bonaire is like a second home to me. I went there first in 1984, and have been there at least a dozen times since then. I looooove Bonaire.

In fact, we were supposed to go to Bonaire last November, but had to cancel and the only place we could rebook our Air Jamaica tickets during the timeframe we wanted was Curacao; that's why we ended up there.

You must be a diver, too?
