This reminds me of an old story (Redd Foxx) that I heard again this morning. Bob Dylan played the cut on XM2. It goes like this:

There was a Texas Roadrunner with a very active libido. He woke up and hit the road very much in the mood. The first bird he ran into was a lark. After a few minutes in the bushes, the lark flew off happily singing:

"I'm a lark, and I've been sparked!"

The Roadrunner then went on his way and the next bird he ran into was a dove. After a few minutes in the bushes, the dove flew off happily singing:

"I'm a dove, and I've been loved!"

The Roadrunner went on his way again, still in the mood. The next bird he saw was a duck. After a few minutes and more commotion in the bushes, and a cloud of feathers, the duck walked off saying:

"I'm a drake, and there's been a mistake!"

Redd was a genius.

I used to raise wild birds like Mockingbirds, Doves, Finches, Wrens and Hummingbirds. I don't think I could find any pleasure in shooting ducks. :D

This has to be the ultimate thread subject hijack. :)

All the posts to other forums have been deleted. We just know how to have fun with things like this:D

To get this back on track (or a different track) the foot bike looks like a blinged out Amish bike (they aren't allowed to have pedals).

I would suggest finding a good Amish forum to post this in, as some of them would appreciate the updated scooter.

:D

I bet you can go faster on a good draisienne. With those you can kick with both feet.

This is a point that was made in the Commuting Forum, before that thread was deleted. Someone even posted pictures comparing them.

I suspect it is our hijacking that saved this thread.

But to what good, I don't know.

Um... are Amish allowed to have computers? As long as they don't use electricity? ;)

Tom Bombadil 03-06-08 01:29 PM

He didn't say it wouldn't be a challenge.

An Amish computer forum is as hard to find as a Kosher Cheeseburger. :p

Do you think there would be a market for an updated stick horse made out of, say, Titanium with a carbon fiber drag wheel with roller bearings, kevlar reins and a variety of "heads" made from high impact polymers?

I bet I could get a workout on one of those! ;)

Greetings From Footbike USA

Wow-----it has been quite a buzz around here for the last couple of days trying to figure out what our little buddy Kurt unleashed on your site. We have an office pool trying to decide if was because he spelled pedal incorrectly, or it was because he was pitching a funky and freaky set of wheels without asking permission. Regardless, I am curious and have contacted Brian about advertising on the Bike Forum.

We officially opened our doors at Interbike 2007 after a year and a half of market research. All of our sales so far have been via word of mouth from Interbike, and research we have done via the fitness industry.

The original concept for this type of performance scooter was invented by a Finnish athlete that could not run to train (sore runnin' bones), so he made one of these. Some guys in Holland at Optima Engineering (anyone know Optima Recumbents?) knew they could design one better, so they built the Footbike.

Our company mission statement is to deliver a Footbike to everyone in North America, that would be around 360 million units. If we fall a little short then we will still have a blast on our fun and freaky Footbikes!

We will pursue some ad space with BikeForum and see how it feels. Again thanks for the extra drama around here (actually we'll thank Kertt)!----and for a look at another way to spread the word.

Just Kick It----Moses

p.s.----who actually owns a stuffed duck on a scooter....?!!:)

I think Beverly answered the question a few posts back:

Follow through on your advertising promise and I'm sure the whole board will be impressed.

Maybe some of then will want to buy something that is "funky and freaky".

Notwithstanding what you have stuffed on your scooter.

You'd also need cowboy boots, a cowboy hat, a vest, a checked shirt, levis and chaps.

It's more than a SPORT! It's a LIFESTYLE!

OK. You're the official VP of Marketing and Accessories. :D

Tom Bombadil 03-06-08 03:26 PM

In looking over the footbike web page, I see that they have three models. A "Street" model with a cro-mo frame, a "Trail" model with an aluminum frame and wider tires, and then a "Track" model, also aluminum and with narrow wheels. They all use different wheel sets too.

I'm surprised they have two different frames. They are pretty serious about this. And while I can see having a "Street" bike, and maybe a "Trail" bike for dirt paths, I'm scratching my head about a "Track" scooter bike. Are there scooter bike time trials?

I also found one for Bev

In my part of the country they'd beat you up if they caught you riding that and you were an over 13 y/o male.

Just sayin'.

DiabloScott 03-06-08 03:38 PM

1. I think they need a Triathlete Model - those guys will buy anything.
2. Ads should include sexy models - either sexy female riders or sexy female admirers of male riders.
3. I've seen guys on the trail with those elliptical-ski-exersizer-tricycle things... the FootBike is less laughable than those.

Love the pink!! I've always liked pink bikes but I just can't see myself on one.

From the looks of your avatar I think it's a perfect match for your riding form!

(Can somebody PhotoShop Bev's avatar for a draft review?) ;)
