24th Anniversary Bike Ride w/ pics

Lots of anniversaries in the 50+ forum this time of year, including ours! We rode from home out to our favorite restaurant in Graton, had a wonderful meal, including Mimosas to celebrate. (One of my favorite dishes is the Venetian, which is sour dough toast with prociutto, poached eggs, and shaved parmesan cheese. Yummy. Hubby got the weavos rancheros.) Then we rode to Forestville and back. Then had a leisurely ride home. Beautiful day, but a bit breezy. This time of year the mustard is remarkable. The pictures just don't do it justice, but imagine the intensity of the yellow up a couple notches. I think this was one of my favorite anniversary celebrations. It was about a 36 mile ride. (I still have to get a computer for my new bike.)

Happy anniversary!!! Looks like a great meal and a great ride, including beautiful weather!

Our 35th anniversary is tomorrow, St. Pat's Day, but hubby doesn't ride, so we just went out yesterday for a nice dinner and a movie. Enjoyed just spending the day doing whatever we wanted, but it sure would've been fun to do something like a nice long bike ride in the country. I have to say I'm a little jealous that many of you have mates who ride with you.

Congratulations again on your anniversary. BTW - how many years?

That looks like a lot of fun. Judging by the just emerging leaf buds there, it looks like you are exactly two months ahead of us climate-wise. You are at the stage we will be at in mid-May.

Happy Anniversary.

Congrats on the anniversary, you are correct there must be a lot of anniversaries this time of year. Me & the wife had our 27th yesterday but I wasn't so lucky being able to go on a bike ride with her.

O.K. off subject but how do you get the mustard from those flowers? Only time I see it is when it is in the bottle.

That was an excellent report with great pics. Your hubby is a big ol healthy boy from all appearances! You are very fortunate to be able to share cycling with your hubby.

Thanks, DG! I didn't include a picture of the backpack he carried with camera equipment and all my extra clothes.

Thanks, Monoborracho! I knew it looked wrong, but I wasn't interested in taking the time to look it up. My mother is probably spinning in her grave. I'm almost 1/2 Latino from her side of the family! But never learned how to speak Spanish.

Thanks, doctor! Yes, hubby is a little over 6'2" and will be turning 60 next January! He's in great shape due to doing Tai Chi for the past 35 years. We both got into cycling together last year and are having lots of fun.

Happy Anniversary and nice pics. An observation...from the first pic, it appears that your seat may be tilted back a couple of degrees i.e. nose up. It may be an illusion or you prefer it that way. However, the traditional set up is perfectly level. If you feel pressure or pain on longer rides, you may want to make an adjustment.

Happy Anniversary Tru and Hubby! I can't imagine a better way to spend an anniversary. Your pics are terrific and tell the story of a wonderful, memorable day. I especially like the picture of you in front of your bike in the field of mustard.

May you enjoy many more happy miles together for years to come!

Congrats on the anniversary! You two certainly have some beautiful country nearby to ride through.

Celebrating an anniversary with an enjoyable ride isn't something I'm likely to do unless I jump on the back of Mrs. CW's bike to ride pillion! Maybe I'll do just that this year, to celebrate our 35th. Your photo of lunch at Graton has my mouth watering

Hermes, that's the way the LBS put it on and it's extremely uncomfortable! Pressure AND pain. Maybe the tilt is why it hurts. I was going to call them tomorrow to see if I can swap this second saddle out, but I'll also see if it could just need an adjustment. Thanks for noticing and saying something!

Hi Jack!
I'm watching the club calendar for the next 30-something mile ride. I don't think I'm ready for a 50+ miler yet, especially the hilly rides. (Give me a couple of months!)

I had so much fun at the monthly club meeting last Wednesday; it was great seeing you again. What a fun bunch of people! And all very active in the club. I volunteered to help out on May 3 for the Wine Country Century. Something about lunch and a dam...

Yep. He's had to work harder to keep up with me on the flats. He still kicks my arse on the hills, though. He's thinking about his next bike, but isn't in any hurry just yet.
