Does 0.5 miles count as a ride?
 

I think this is going to work out just fine. Just check out the smile on my
primary stoker's face. I made a few adjustments to the Captains cockpit of
the EZ Tandem yesterday. Raised the stem a little and rotated it around 180 degrees.
The "Ape Hangers" are right about at my perfect comfort spot, may raise
the stem another 1/2 inch or so...we'll see. We took a couple short rides
around the block. One trip with Noncranky-NotOld-Dudette, and once
around with the oldest of the three Crankettes. The Stokers seat is right
where she wants it and my bride enjoys the comfort and the view (other
than the part that includes the back of my old head). We're looking foreward
to a couple nice rides along the Erie Canal this summer. Should have fenders
and a flag on it by then.

Helmets not used much on test rides up and down the street.... blah, blah, blah....

Yes, once your feet leave the ground and the bike rolls forward, it's a ride. :)

If you had to pedal-it counts.

Fenders would be an advantage, but no need for flag or helmet -- just let your "freak flag fly". although it has greyed a bit in the years since the good ole days.

You'll have to change your moniker if you keep smiling like that.

No question about half a mile being a "ride". It's actually a wonderful ride, because in comparison it makes my 20km ride of this morning look like a century ride!

And it made you smile and be happy :D



By the way? Is it flying the freak flag whilst riding that makes the front bit of it blow away? I suspect I'd be happy for that to happen, because then I wouldn't have to muck about every now and then trimming the fringe so's I could see!

It counts as a ride, but why did you stop when you were having such a good time?

flying the freak flag is purely a state of mind for the follicle-ly (sp?) challenged.

Tandems always give that smile- Or occasionally a snarl but that is only uphill. The stokers view is always boring so get a periscope so she can see over or round you- Or change the view by getting a Jet style haircut. And on the front fender- Don't bother about the stoker-Get a full fender such as in the attachment- for when you take it offroad. Saves all the stones coming over the top of the wheel and bouncing off the Shaved Pate if the helmet gets left at home again.

And if taking it offroad- carry the first aid kit. You might need it.

Looks like your stroker is having a great time. While you're getting those fenders and flag don't forget matching jerseys and helmets:D

It looks like you are going to have some real fun on that bike. comfort all the way. I sure have enjoyed biking more since I swithched to a Sun EZ Sport. The seats and riding position are just so-oo comfortable, mile after mile. Enjoy. bk

A half mile definitely counts... Until this weekend, when it looks like Spring has finally sprung, I was about to start counting wrenching and polishing time. :)

No, I am sorry that is not correct. To qualify as a "ride", one must leave the immediate neighborhood. As I recall, the judges frown on anything that is less than 1.0 mile (or 1.0 kilometer if you live outside the USA) from start to finish. For example, practicing your clipless skills while remaining in the driveway does not count! :D

So is the very pretty stoker the not so cranky and not so old one or one of the crankettes ?

I think there are statutes about cradle robbing around here and despite that, I have got to get me a tandem so I can do some cradle robbing of my own.

I'd love to get my wife interested in riding a tandem bent. The first time I saw one was about 5 years ago and I loved it.

Yes Sir. Just got it. Not much time to try it out as of yet, though it is
of good quality. (Piloted by the oldest of the "Crankettes".)
