My first Adventure Race today
Today was the second annual Ozello Florida adventure race. An adventure race is like a sprint triathalon except you replace the swimming with kayaking. I was part of a team that consisted of me as the kayaker, a good friend of mine who was the cyclist and my 17 year old son running. At 17, 46, and 53 we called ourselves, The Speedster and the old guys. I kayaked 1.5 miles first and to everyones amazement I was the third one across the line to tag my friend who then biked 7 miles. When my friend got back and tagged my son he was well ahead of everyone. My son burned up the 2 miles and even passed a biker as he was crossing the finish line. Last years winning team time was 53 minutes and we completed the course today in 43. We beat last years time so much that they went back and checked with all of the marshalls to make sure we all followed the course. It was a fun time, but I think I will be sore tomorrow.

Congratulations, I hope we have some simillar success in our first adventure race coming up May 10. In ours the team must do all three disciplines together. We have 45K mountain bike, 6K run and 10K paddle. The course has to be done in 6 hours and you can earn extra points by attempting to find extra check points. I am doing it with my brother and we're registered as Two Old Geezers (he's 66 I'm 60). My brother has never done any paddling (but is an accomplished triathlete) so we're going out to practice that today. Should be fun.

Now, these sound like fun.................I especially like the part about finding some young kid to do the running.
