Found a new home for the Fuji
Cleaning out my storage unit, and decided it was time to say goodbye to my $30 Fuji. I thought about putting it up on Craigslist, but I didn't want the hassle of taking a picture, writing a description, and dealing with the emails and all that.
So I wheeled it out to set it by the dumpster, figuring someone would take it, and whoever did would probably use it.
As I was walking back to the storage unit a few yards away, a car drives by and slows down. Sure enough a family of four or five inside, and they didn't look like they were related to Bill Gates or Donald Trump. Out jumps the father and his 12 year old son (or so I guessed). Kid was all smiles. Father asks me -- does it work? Yes, it might need an adjustment or two, but it's good to go.
Thanks! he's beaming. The son is REALLY beaming.
Feels good to pass one along to someone who really wants it.

So it was "on the market" for about a minute?
I like the ending. Good show DG!
I too hate to go through the hassle to sell things for a few bucks. I've given away a lot of things over the years once I'm through with them.

A very happy ending. When I was about 12 a neighbor handed me a Schwinn Varsity to replace the hand me down bike (I had 4 older borthers) I had ridden it since age 6 - the head tube was split open at the front fork but I was still riding it. My Dad didn't have a job and we were barely hanging on. That bike was great until age 17 when I traded it in on a new Raliegh Grand Prix (white) which I bought from money working in a Jack in the Box.

That's the best way to get rid of an unused bike

Deeg,
You may like to eat pie. But the things you do are like pi: natural, irrational and important.

Awhile back I bought a kid's Specialized Rockhopper (24" wheels) at a thrift with the idea of fixing it up & flipping it for a small profit. Now I think I'll fix it up and donate it instead.

Wow DG, that was great! You'll be rewarded someday, in addition to what you've already received by seeing a very happy kid and his dad.

Last year a guy gave me a nice Campy-equipped Trek. I've tried to pass it on. I've given away two bikes, but I still owe more.
Good job, DG.

Good job Gary. That's about as clever as it's going to get today from the likes of me.
