What? Me worry.

A toestrap around the neck of that bottle could be as important to your health as seatbelt and airbag in your car.

The red bag under the DT of my avatar photo bike holds sandals. Securely held with an extra long toestrap.

Edited to add photo

You must have missed my subsequent post where I show that the bottle is really not that close to the tire:

Too macabre for me

My Training Space: 'My dad's ashes were mixed into the paint – he comes with me on every ride!' | Cycling Weekly
:wtf:

One more thing to put in the living will, "Dispose of ashes quickly to avoid potential family weirdness". Please no RIP (Ride in Peace) for me.

Wondering if this son also mourns when every paint scratch is incurred? Will he bury the frame upon its' "demise"? Just too many questions.

Good intentions are sometimes ... ??? ... weird?

Wildwood 08-07-23 12:12 PM

One more thing while I'm here.

Hoping some of those 50+ arena mellow before they hit 65, or this thread will turn to senseless intolerant mush.

Enjoy your ride, without Ego, often a bad accompaniment.

McBTC 08-09-23 02:12 PM

Definitely a more inspiring tradition than a mortuary feast of chowing down on deceased relatives...

Never knew this thread existed. I made 65 last April. Perhaps I'll drop in now and then.

Cheers!

was 75 last month. hard to find a decent light bike for an easy price these days. so I had to improvise. this Peugeot mixte weighs in at just under 32#, steel basket, racks, wheels, cranks, pedals and cable lock. Old Simplex cracked so vintage Suntour derailers. Cables, bars and stem new alloy. Maybe $300 in it with the gravel tires. It gets me there... and back. Ol' yaller dawg...

Question for the mods = A forum member aged 75 and a member for 10+ years with over 130 posts is a Junior Member? :wtf:

Or is this an ill-advised attempt to compliment oldsters?

If not a compliment, maybe age discrimination?

Keepin it real. :thumb:

rdlange - 32pounds in flat Houston probably rides lighter than my 22 pounds (loaded) in foothills and mountains.

Ride on!

'til a few days ago, didn't know if I had gotten Covid over the last few years and had no symptoms or escaped infection. However, came down with it Friday night and instead of a planned bike ride, was picking up Paxlovid from CVC at 10A the next morning. Strange path to wellness from there on but weathered it out at home in lockdown and today is the last of the 5-day Paxlovid regimen so apparently, can consider myself over the infection as of tomorrow morning (knock on wood). It's coming 'round again and more infectious than ever but you can handle it! Ride on, y'all.

Wildfire smoke has kept me mostly inside last 2 days.
Bad. Classic bicycle on CraigsList I've never ridden.
Told myself, I need to brush up on my French.
Maybe pics to follow.
The smoke hasn't been terrible and leaving tonight.

Sorry for those in the path of natural disasters - of all kinds, lately.
Be safe.

N+1 happens!?!

This 1971 PX10 has better gearing for hills than originally equipped. Maybe too bad it is not all original. Butt,….Immediately a good rider in my hills. 38 small ring and 32 cog out back.
One centimeter too tall, but nice French fit. As purchased but saddle raised and stem lowered. Probably need to rotate bars based on first around th block test.

Stay home too much for even a day - browse CraigsList Seattle for bikes = spend money.

Rode the DeRosa - I like to fool myself that I’m a racy old man.

Seems like every day this summer has been good for cycling in Seattle area.

Get'n older but, could enjoy a bit longer ride cuz... a tailwind on return trip today!

McBTC 09-22-23 08:31 PM

Changed the rear today but kept the tube cuz... been incredibly reliable. Tire was showing the wear but, happy to recommend Vittoria Rubino tires!

75 yrs and still riding

I had a Trek 1220 since 1997 and finally got a new bike this year at the age of 75. I bought a Trek Domane AL 5. Smoother and faster is how I would describe it. I'm looking forward to being a member of this forum.

Start of the 40th Honolulu Century Ride where I finished 50 on a folder. Zen’d my way back over the returning climbs. Enjoyable ride.

Does it have an aluminum steer tube Riser?

pelirary 09-29-23 09:22 AM

Do you mean one added after purchase? If so then no it doesn't. But I was looking at them, feeling that the handlebars might need to be a little higher for better comfort during rides. Still haven't made a decision on that yet.

Well tomorrow is the big day! My first metric century, Sacramento Century, since I broke my hip riding near Mt. Lassen in Northern California. That means the first real training in over 5 years. And wouldn't you know! The ride is tomorrow, Sept. 30, and the first rain is forecasted. Not today! Not Sunday Oct. 1, not the next 10 days, just tomorrow morning. Then to top it off... my riding partner bailed yesterday.

Please send good thoughts my way!!

Cheers,
Geary

All washed and ready to go!

Wildwood 09-29-23 11:33 AM

Fair seas and a following wind for a metric. Easy peasy on a racy red rocket.

Good luck! Keep your body temperature controlled w/ some neoprene. Expect the wet but a soaked kit & temperature sapping air movement can cause energy drain to maintain your core temperature.

No- talking about the steerer tube... attached to the fork... that the headset is attached to. Was interested in getting that bike back in 2018 but didn't cuz Trek had switched to a carbon steerer tube (thought that'd present issues getting some additional rise). Otherwise, I like the geometry and being able to have larger road tires (I'm stuck with 25s on the rear).
