Pics from Angeles Crest
4 of us did an 80 mile ride in the mountains last Saturday and Mark just sent me some pics.
I'm a Fred.
Andy, a kid of 50.
Mark, very strong retired guy.
Blazhe is behind the gate. He's freakishly fast for 60.

Some rocks on the closed section.
So many nice views.
I love this one.
We stopped here near the end.
And there was a surprise guest.

2 tunnels up there.
This is why the road is closed.
Another view in the Bighorn Sheep area.
Lots of this.

It's an out and back of 80 miles with about 8500 feet of climbing. I'll be going back this weekend because Magda003 has never been, and Vertical Bob loves it up there.

Love those locked gates. Some of the best riding in the world lies beyond them.
Watch out for that yahoo in the Porsche. He'd just as soon run over cyclists as look at 'em.

Thanks for the pictures. That looks like a wonderful place to ride.
I would like to give those hills a try sometime. Most of the hills around here are the short, steep variety. I'm not sure how long it would take me to get to the top - If I *ever* got there

This ride has 4 climbs of 6-7 miles each, plus lots of shorter climbs. Since it is an out and back, there are 4 descents of 6-7 miles, plus shorter ones. It was on this route I first discovered getting tired of descending. It's been mostly repaved, so the descents are nicer these days. I'm worried that when they fix that washout and reopen the whole thing to cars, it won't be as fun.
