Road2Recovery Photos-Asheboro to Lowes Motor Speedway
John Wordin-Executive Director of the ride gives preride instructions. John was former team manager for the the Mercury race team.
Out on the road with one of our Road Warriors.
We pushed a LOT along this 65 miles. This was these folks 6th day and they had averaged about 80 miles a day-plus we were on a pretty tight time schedule to get to the Speedway.
A couple of our Road Warriors having some fun with the gas nozzle at a our only rest stop. The stoker in the back had lost his sight. Amazing to see him get clipped in to the pedals.
Pushing a Road Warrior on his trike-that took some skill!!!
Closing on on the Speedway!!
The Trike!
Entering the Speedway via the tunnel under the backstretch.
A group photo with Bobby Labonte who came by. Bobby rides and has come out and done our Time Trials.
I'm kneeling on the far right with the white helment hair.
Riding around the track to some great cheers of appreciation from the fans that were there.

A picture of Patty who had lost her leg below the knee in May of last year. My newest hero. Was back on the bike by in only two months and competed in a triathalon last week. One of the most positive people you'll ever meet. And she is still serving in the Army...
This was the youngest Warrior at 22. I pushed him a good bit along the ride-he gave it everything he had.
Bobby Labonte receiving a signed jersey.
Patty telling us her incredible story.
Some of Ft Bragg's finest. A terrific looking group of young men and women.
The group in Winner's Circle. I'm on the back row at the edge of the Coca Cola sign.

That is fantastic; one of my favorite ride reports yet.
Did I miss a previous post that introduced this ride?

Jppe thanks for posting the pictoral. I was hoping there would be a photo essay. The ER was hopping crazy so I couldn't break away for the send off. You guys were about a mile from the hospital in Asheboro. How was the traffic on 49? Lp

It didn't seem too bad. We had some sag vans behind us which probably helped keep traffic at bay a little. I really didn't turn around and look but suspect we might have backed up traffic a little more than drivers would have liked. We were on a pretty tight timeframe to get to the Speedway and just couldn't afford to pull the whole caravan over time and again. We did have a small group on the sendoff which was nice.
