It seems to me that the mods -at least in the 50+ forum- act as a Deux Ex Machina.
I don't even know you're here until suddenly a thread disappears with no warning or explanation.
It's happened to a couple of mine, I know. me? I don't overly worry about it.
Maybe you're just doing your job as you see it or maybe the mods like that feeling of anonymous power
Remember, "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely"

I really have no idea if you hang and read all of the tuff that goes on in here.
You might have a great and true feel for who we are but if you don't bother to participate -if you're in it but not of it- except to defend yourself from criticism, why would you expect a "warm fuzzy" from us?
Why would you expect us to care, at all?

"East Hill"? I mean, who the f*** are you, anyway?
I didn't know you were a mod, let alone the 50+ mod.
You mean nothing to me.
And in my book that says it all.
While I'm dropping quotes: "They govern best who governs least"
Join the party or leave us alone.
We do fine without you.

Whoa. I'm guessing that you are speaking of me? (maybe? I'm the whiner on the last page...) Please understand, I'm not here to defend myself, I don't think I have done anything wrong (have I?) - Well I'm suppose I'm defending myself now (more in the lines of explaining) because yes, I haven't posted REALLY (maybe a few times before) but it was THE INFAMOUS PIE THREAD that pulled me out of the woodwork. Warm fuzzy? Naw...I don't expect one. Just don't want a boot in the rear end because I'm blue. *rubs boot mark*

Bad SKT! Bad! Bad! Bad!

I'd be scared of your posts if someone made you move someplace that was very flat and very cold.

Grrrr. You REALLY gotta try it. It's not creamy at all. It's "velvety".

I've had it! I like it. I'd love to have a slice of one right now!

But most recipes call for 2-2.5 cups of milk in them, that makes it a CREAM PIE!

SaiKaiTai? Why the harsh words? If you didn't know she's a mod then fine and dandy. But even so, that means you consider her a regular member and those words are still kinda hard to swallow....

Okay fine you win. I owe you a slice if I ever meet you. But we gotta have it with hot chocolate (not hot cocoa). Deal? *nods head in encouragement*

Don't despair Siu Blue Wind (love that name). I don't look at stars.
We all need a lesson from Dr. Seuss about right now......

Now the Star-bellied Sneetches had bellies with stars.
The Plain-bellied Sneetches had none upon thars.
The stars weren't so big; they were really quite small.
You would think such a thing wouldn't matter at all.
But because they had stars, all the Star-bellied Sneetches
would brag, "We're the best kind of Sneetch on the beaches."

With their snoots in the air, they would sniff and they'd snort, "
We'll have nothing to do with the plain-bellied sort."
And whenever they met some, when they were out walking,
they'd hike right on past them without even talking.

When the Star-bellied children went out to play ball,
could the Plain-bellies join in their game? Not at all!
You could only play ball if your bellies had stars,
and the Plain-bellied children had none upon thars.

When the Star-bellied Sneetches had frankfurter roasts,
or picnics or parties or marshmallow toasts,
they never invited the Plain-bellied Sneetches.
Left them out cold in the dark of the beaches.
Kept them away; never let them come near,
and that's how they treated them year after year.

Seriously, the written word can be so harsh and I did not intend it to be so, only that as a mod her presence is ephemeral, at best, and we are a pretty self-regulating bunch. I have nothing against her, personally... she doesn't post here enough for me to judge her as a member. Heck, I'm not even judging her as a mod.

It seems there is a war that is spreading even to the non-combatants. People are leaving who are entertaining and enlightening. Escalation is occuring. Maybe a trade is in order - if the offending mod returns the torque wrench thread and takes this one in it's place would we all be happy? https://www.bikeforums.net/fifty-plus-50/331614-repairing-maintaining-your-own-bike.html

Or is it all out war:

That's what I think too.

Frankly, I've been reading through this thread and trying to figure out what the big deal is.

Sorry I ever started it.

I was (idealistically) trying to bring a "possibility" thought to the forum.

But, alas, I failed - again?

I'd be willing to trade it for the Torque Wrench thread, if someone would throw in a piece of blueberry pie!

I propose we place this thread in the Roadie forum, move the Torque wrench thread back here, and move PCad to the Mechanics forum.

Deal?

If I remember, your entry technique was greeted with a warm welcome. This is what led me to ask if any moderators could spend a little more time here so as to get to know us. It is much easier to be chided by a friendly neighbor than beaten with a stick. Even though it appears that some moderators thought of this as an attack, the very start of this was a question of why.......why now........what about past practices......and have the guidelines changed. Information early on would have done wonders for this whole situation. This very post was started by the questions.......what can we do to make this situation better in the future, and a suggestion by myself that a few more visits by moderators would be beneficial. What attack?

By the way, its good that your pie wasn't on the list.........we have a tradition here of giving all pollsters a hard time for incomplete polls.........

I'm in and out here. I use almost everyone's full name, unless it's DG or Tom.

I do understand Dnvrs' concerns. I feel this is a pretty friendly place to start with. I used to hang out in a bunch of different forums but 50+ is a special place that I wish the spirit of would wash off on other subforums.

You betcha bunnies I am! I went on ONE ride -- the "Oddball ride" (go figure).... I wish I can go on more but because I don't have a steady work schedule (different days and times each week) I can never really plan on going. It took me a month prior to ask for THAT day off and I had to battle another co worker with more seniority who decided all of a sudden she wanted that day off too. Pfft. But I made it. Yep. I sure did. Hmmph.

PS. Call me SBW.

And Maddmaxx? I'm hoping to come by here more often, thanks for the welcome! *looks at fading boot mark*
