Bought a new car and still don't drive

I'm giving the old sedan (98 Avalon) to the kids for college (two attending U-of-Ill in the fall) so I needed a replacement. Plus with 4 drivers (and one on permit) I needed a third vehicle just so I'd have one around when I needed it. I bought one last week and it didn't make any difference. I still get home from my bike commute and there's no vehicle anywhere to be found. Unfortunately they leave me a vehicle only when it needs fuel. Arrrgghhh!

If you adopted me and gave me a car I would promise to keep it filled up. And even the '98 probably has fewer miles than my 1986 Honda with 242,000 on the odometer.

And I'm housebroken......well, pretty much.

I woke up this morning and there were two extra pickup trucks in the circular driveway and one monster jacked-up pickup in the street in front of my house. This was in addition to my younger boys two vehicles, which are another pickup and an additional car. All told there were seven vehicles at the house.

To other people this might seem strange.

I have an 00 Avalon with 95,000 miles on it. I keep thinking of trading in for something new, but it keeps on ticking. And my new GF has a full size PU truck, so I'm covered there for hauling anything. Guess I'll keep the Toyota for a while longer.

Didn't think Pitcairn Island had internet access....

I had narrowed down Avalon replacement options to: 02 Honda Accord or 05 Camry (both nondescript, reliable sedans) until I stumbled on to a slightly ragged 05 Lexus ES330 going for pretty cheap. Close enough to my target! Bought it.

Avalon will probably suffer under the kids' tutelage. So be it.

My recommendation: get aftermarket fancy wheels and it'll feel like a new car.

We currently have three drivers and three cars at home, but I seldom drive on weekdays.

Whichever one they like least, use. Always leave it with less than 1/4 tank. You'll have a car when you need one. Most likely end up being the one with the worst mileage.
