A compliment paid and a lesson learned

As I glided past the two young (15-ish) gentlemen there was no doubt that
I had captured their attention (or the LWB Recumbent did). Then I heard the
comment shouted out from behind me "' 'way to go Grampa. Viva la Revolution!"
Now it wasn't the comment or the attention that I found complimantary, but
the fact that they waited until I was a good 50+ yards away before feeling
safe enough to shout out, or maybe they're just slow.
Must have scared them with my sinister looks, or maybe my well developed
and long nurtured beer belly.

Later I learned a little nature lesson. When one startles (flushes) a bird, and
said bird chooses to flee straight ahead of you at a pace slightly slower than what
you're riding.....resist, I repeat, resist the temptation to reach out and touch it!!!
Yep, that's right, scared the .... right out of the poor little thing, onto me and the
the bike.

Ha ha ha ha, love it.

I love to feed the birds but then I have to clean up after them.

Wish they would show some respect

See, if you hadn't "glided" past those two whippersnappers, both you and the bird would have been in different places at the same time! :D Think how the bird feels after he gets back to the nest. "Holy moly Agnes, some huge thing came out of nowhere and literally scared the crap out of me. You never seen the likes of this before, an old guy with a beer belly, lying down on some weird 2-wheeled contraption, a big grin on his face, muttering something about a revolution. I'm gettin' too old for this kinda stress...I gotta see the optometrist in the morning about some new glasses!"
