Is this a trick question?

doctor j 07-30-08 08:36 PM

Shouldn't the guy be wearing a white belt?

rocoach 07-30-08 08:56 PM

He's not American.

The humidity has been high here lately, hasn't it.

What were his Speedos doing around his neck?

Fixie bike depends on riders feet clipped in to brake, he's not clipped with the straps. No front brake. No hands. Not watching where he's going. Using a cell phone. No helmet. Right pant leg not rolled up or strapped to prevent pant leg getting tangled in chain and chain ring. 1970's hair and suit. Obviously not a 50+ rider (at the time photo was taken) so this thread should have been in the commuter forum.

Boudicca 07-31-08 07:56 AM

He looks a bit like Borat to me.

But give the guy a break. Maybe he has carpal tunnel syndrome and can't put any weight on his hands.

Floyd 07-31-08 08:07 AM

Maybe late to work so did not have time to do his phone calls any other time

Cellphone in the 1970's?

Suit and hair from the 70's! He must get his suits from a thrift store and his barber keeps giving him bad haircuts.

I'll start:

1. No helmet.

I'm not sure you can say that's wrong; the helmet is to protect the brain, and based on everything else that's wrong, I'm not so sure he has one to protect. The same logic would also apply to his girlfriend...

That must be the winner.

Never had that thought come into my head when trying to convince a rider to wear a helmet.

BluesDawg 07-31-08 02:40 PM

My favorite line for riders who show up helmetless at club rides is "you should only wear a helmet if you have a brain to protect".

Well you can go to Holland and China and try telling that to the millions of helmetless cyclists there. I'd think you'd be laughed back onto the plane home.

Just because millions do it doesn't make them smart.

Being laughed at doesn't bother me - I'm married with a teenager daughter and 2 sons in their early 20's, so I've been getting laughed at for years!

Should everyone wear a helmet when they're riding a bike? My reaction would be that the decision should be left to the individual (at least for adults). I've made my decision; I put the helmet on whenever I get on my bike (or, more accurately, trike). Your decision is just that - yours to make, not mine.

No one seems to have noticed that he is pedaling the bike backwards against the flow of traffic. Notice that his left foot is bent as though he is putting pressure on the pedal, while his right foot is flat as though he is lifting it upwards.

Metric Man 07-31-08 04:30 PM

Maybe he's Map Questing a TdF route. He's probably got the dope. :roflmao2:

zonatandem 07-31-08 04:46 PM

Leave the guy alone, he is riding a bicycle . . .

JoblessDave 08-02-08 12:37 AM

Ooooh ... He's NOT wearing an iPod?

BLIZZ, is your icon a Giant Schnauzer? We had a giant about 10 years ago. Wonderful dogs. Ours was the more laid back variety.

Around Boulder, texting while cycling is becoming de regueur.
