Yes, I talked to my ins agent to see if he might be able to offer any assistance. But if I processed the claim through my homeowners ins, he said they would give me ACV less my deductible (which is high).
I'm working another option at the moment... will see how that shakes out before exploring the choices laid out above. |
Daughter had her car hit in our no fault state, despite the damage of 2500 the most we could get was 500. Oh yeah we could not take the driver to small claims court.:( I hate no fault and I hate insurance companies.

Why could you not take the driver to SC court?

Update:
I would like to report a happy ending to my insurance battle. After much back and forth, including a near settlement yesterday for the original amount of the repair plus some incidentals, we finally settled today. Here's what happened. Yesterday the insurance company finally agreed to pay for the original cost of repairs to my bike (plus incidentals). However, before I received the fax release to sign, I got a call from the bike shop telling me there were no more frames available for my 2006 Pilot 5.2. (I had already ordered the replacement frame a week or so back, anticipating this would be my best and cheapest option). I called the ins co back up to say the deal is off and the reason why. I went to the LBS and was told that Trek is out of frames for my bike but can supply a new 2009 frame but the repair price is now $1000 more than before. Today I passed that info along to the ins co and am happy to report the ins co agreed to pay the full amount of the repairs. I guess patience is the operative phrase here. It sure seemed the ins co was intent on sticking by their lowball numbers, but I'm relieved they finally relented and will now pay the full cost of the repair. Due to the new and higher $$ amount of the repair, I was able to negotiate a reasonable deal with my LBS on a 2008 close-out and will get a new bike after all. So I'm happy with how it all worked out. |
I'm glad this worked to your advantage. You sure were stressed about it a page or two ago, and I don't blame you -- I would be, too.
Anyway, well done on a happy resolution for you. Post a pic when the new bike comes in. |
That was pretty quick for the insurance co. to give in. I wonder if their adjusters are overloaded right now and they really needed to clear the simple claims.
Good for you. And as before, enjoy your new bike. |
