Intro from newbie

Been reading here for about a week and thought it was time to sign up. As is often the scenario, I'm just now getting back into biking after a long (5 year) layoff. I've been caretaking a back injured wife(who's now on the mend!) and two boys (both off to college in only 10 more days!!) so now have some time to ride. Alas, since I last got on a bike I've aged (55) and gained 30 lbs(210). Live in the Dallas/Ft Worth area so I have plenty of good riding days available (if you like hot, which I do).
Since my oldest had my bike(and his bike, and a new one) stolen at The Univ. of Arizona I need a new bike (darn). Pretty much settled on a Roubiax until the evil man at the LBS showed me a Madone. Looks like more test rides in store for me. Things have sure changed over the years.

Madone or Roubaix? Good choice on both so test rides are on the cards. One of them will scream "Buy ME"

Welcome back

Welcome back to riding and welcome to the 50+ crowd. :crash: We have lots of good emoticons:geek:, so you will want to post often:banned: and use them :trainwreck:whenever possible. Be sure we get a picture :giver:of your bike when you decide. :thumb::crash:;):roflmao2::saweeet:

Fixed. Get both.

We're always happy to spend someone else's money in 50+.

As I recall, the Roubaix is a relaxed geometry and the Madone a race geometry. A better comparison would be Roubaix and Pilot.

Of course, this didn't stop me from spending $20 in raffle tickets to try and win a Madone this weekend. And as usual, they gave "my" bike so some chick. Grrr...

yep - I think the Madone and Tarmac are closer.

Both bikes you are looking at would be great bikes, I bought a Tarmac but may have preferred a Roubaix more as the Tarmac is a tad stiff on a long ride for my taste.

BTW
:welcome

I thought the new Madones came in both flavors.

I think you're right. There's the Madone and the Madone Pro series.

I personally prefer the Madone WSD:innocent:

Welcome!

They're both good looking bikes. Enjoy the test rides:thumb:
