The frugal German strikes again. I needed some bike shoes to ride with toe clips. So I went a lookin. While at the bulls eye store ( Target) I found some board shoe? I guess shoes for skate boards. They have a stiff foot sole like my old bike shoes were that my Frau threw away. They were 29.95. I bought them and they not only matched the color of my new bike, they seem to work quite well so far. I will keep everbody posted. The fit the toe clips well and foot fit is ok.

Although many of us ride Clipless and with cycling specific shoes- To try and find a shoe that is non cycling and suitable is difficult. Sounds as though you have found a good stiff sole that will work on a bike and at a very sensible price.
How long was I in the army? Five foot seven.
