New Destination: Free Breakfast
There's an Indian casino about 10 miles from here that has free continental breakfast for 50+ers every Mon-Thurs. All you need is their "gambling club" card, which is free. We rode there today. I had a bagel with cream cheese, OJ, and coffee and wife had a gigantic cinnamon roll with OJ and coffee.
We don't gamble at all, and aren't tempted, so it's really free for us. Only disadvantage is the smokey environment.

Hmmmm .... free food in smokey room ... tough choice.
Would probably make a dash for the food and eat outside.
When I visited Vegas a few years ago, I noticed how smokey the gambling halls were. I was just strolling through some, taking in the sights, when my eyes started burning. Had to get outside.
Still, a nice find for you.

Spending this past summer in Utah; a full free breakfast was offered by Macey's (local Mormon grocery store) on a Saturday morn.
Included Johnson brats, pancakes and variety of fancy syrups, 'taters, OJ, milk and of all things . . . coffee (LDS don't do coffee).
Sat outside at tables.
Drew some smiles and looks as we arrived on our tandem bike.

Well..........
Being a former smoker myself. I try and not condemn people for smoking. I simply try to find places that are well ventilated. And there ARE smoke-free casinos out there if gambling is your passion.
If you are getting something for "free" one shouldn't complain about the environment. After all....you CHOSE to go there didn't you?

I hate casinos. They would have to be giving away cash to get me to ride there and put up with that most horrid of environments, noise, smoke and zombies everywhere. They totally wierd me out. totally.

One of these days the Casinos, even the big ones in Las Vegas might figure out that the omlet bar where the short order cooks make you an omlet, can also be an inspiration to make you a smoothie, ala Jamba Juice.
Just think, a smoothie made to order with stuff riders really want, really healthy and full of minerals and protien, or energy boost or whatever...even wheat grass.

I've never been anywhere near a casino and wouldn't even show up for free money. I've got nothing against gambling, which is a personal choice, but being in that environment would weird me out too.

In Vegas everywhere that you want to go is through the casino. From the front desk to your room is through the casino. From your room to the restaurant is through the casino. If they could, they'd make you go through the casino for a middle-of-the-night bathroom run.

Agree 100% on toxic environment. The noise (bells and beeps) is almost as bad as the smoke. We plan to take the food outside in the future.
I'm a little surprised the casinos aren't worried about liability issues related to second-hand smoke.

When I was in Vegas (to attend a conference), I stayed at a Travel Lodge motel, which had no casino. So I wasn't forced to go into any. I ventured into a couple just to see what they looked like. Didn't find anything of interest there.
I threw in a couple of extra days on my trip, take advantage of work paying the airfare both ways & extra days are on my dime. A cheap way to see America, and a way that I have taken about 20 times over the years. I was planing to stay in Vegas to take it all in, as I didn't have that much free time during the conference. After being there a couple of days, I changed my plans. Went up to southern Utah and spent the two days in Zion National Park and Snow Canyon state park. No plans to go back to Vegas for me.

My hunch is that they will be ... over time. Not just in the public areas, but in the private rooms. If hotels (and apartment buildings) are recycling air out of the public areas or even other rooms in the complex, and that air contains second hand smoke, then eventually there are going to be lawsuits.

I try to use "Native American" a lot. But many Native Americans use the term "Indian." So it gets confusing. I recently saw advertising for two Native American hosted events, sponsored by the tribes themselves, and both were labeled as "Indian" events.

Nevertheless, still filled with zombies.
I don't enjoy Vegas in any way. As stated before, one must go through a gambling area to get anywhere. My wife, with her bad knee, needed a place to sit down outside the casinos. Even at the Bellagio, with all their fountains, there is no place to sit. It is all arranged so that all sitting must be done inside.
Only good thing about Vegas is the Red Rocks Canyon Bicycle Ride.
Nevertheless, still filled with zombies.

In the UK- you are not allowed to smoke in any workplace- any public building or any where that is enclosed and other people may use. This is also the norm in most European countries

I was in England/Wales in 1977. I remember thinking that tomatoes for breakfast seemed odd. As did putting the toast in little racks to let it cool. Here in the colonies (is California one of the colonies?) we like our toast hot. I do remember bangors, too.
