A Brooks first
So here I am on tour 300 miles from nowhere and this happens. No the bolt was never touched.

I was only about 5 miles from the house, but it would have put me in a bind if I was on tour.

Yeah that seat post would have been very uncomfortable for a 200 mile ride back home from the tour. Have you contacted Brooks

When I talked to Bill at Wallingford, he said it happens a few times a year, for no apparent reason.

Wow! Unless they sell hundreds of thousands of Brooks saddles, that's a failure rate that would encourage me to steer clear of a Brooks.

George - just curious, how many miles did you have on the saddle when this happened? - Just curious.

I know if it were a Terry or Specialized, I would have got a new one. Like I said before, I'll never break in another one.

I thought Wallingford was supposed to be so wonderful for their warranty. If I had this problem with a saddle I bought from my LBS, I would expect them to contact Brooks and get a free replacement part. Why is Wallingford not doing this?

Hello George,
Tough break on that saddle, brooks products
have served me well for about 40 years.
I'm thinking, contacting the factory in th UK, may have
been the way to go for satifaction. These folks make,
hands down the best bicycle saddles.
Parts break, s**t happens
Wallingford {Wall Bike} is just a bicycle parts
store in New Orleans, USA and sell parts, {Brooks
among others}. So a part was needed and he sold
it. no harm no foul.
I do not. nor have ever worked for Brooks or any
bicycle related company. I'll use the saddles
for as long as these old legs can pedal.
Cheers.

Yep. As I said in another thread, that's a design flaw. Brooks should do something differently. It's a major safety issue and could lead to a serious accident. I would stay clear of using any component with a problem like that.

hmmm
I think a little Yankee ingenuity could have solved the problem. Maybe a shoe lace through the hole and back around the front of the frame with a little tension would have solved it until later. Stuffing your t-shirt under the saddle would also suffice. On tours, sometimes things happen and you have to improvise and adapt or walk.
