Scored N+1 on ebay
A 2007 Giant TCX 0, still in the box. All I can saw is :thumb:  :D
Here's a pic. I'll post the real thing when UPS delivers it. http://www.giant-bicycles.com/_uploa...ocross-700.jpg |
Alright, a cross bike. Merry Christmas.
|
Right you are. I'll be selling the old cross bike shortly after this one arrives.
Seems the shop I bought it from (4 years ago) had never sold a cross bike (it was a special order) and I ended up with a bike one size too large. It has been my commuter and I always wondered why it seemed so big compared to my road bike. This will be a cross bike, not for racing :twitchy: (the masters categories around here are 35+ and 45+ and I'm well past 45+ ) but for off road riding, which is what I've been doing with my current cross bike for the past few weeks. This is my Christmas, birthday (< 3 weeks away), and whatever other occasions come up in the near future. :innocent: |
Wish people would not do this. I have just convinced myself that a N+ the 6th is not on and you come up with what I am possibly thinking may be my next bike. In fact- I am hoping to get to the LBS to discuss a Cyclocross frame and forks tomorrow- just to see if it is feasible.
I am looking at building up my own bike as I do want to use it offroad. and I will be looking at 9 speed to be able to get a sensible low gear with a triple and a 34t on the cassette. May be lower gearing than most would use- but our offroads are steep. So when you get it up and running- let us know how it rides as The giant is one of the frames I will be looking at. |
FedEx delivered the bike on Wednesday night. Thursday it rained all day so I had lots of time to build the bike. It was sunny and temps were in the low 40s (6C) today so I took it out to one of the area mtn bike trails. :thumb: :thumb:
On one of the trails I didn't notice a root under the leaves and the front wheel glanced off the root and I went down. First time I've fallen in a LONG time. Leaves and dirt are a LOT softer than asphalt. :p http://i373.photobucket.com/albums/o...g?t=1228515038 That's Georgia red clay on the tires. http://i373.photobucket.com/albums/o...g?t=1228515238 |
Even more jealous now.
Hope you have re-applied for Club Tombay |
Does off-road count for Club Tombay? :innocent:

Have to admit--After 30 months of road riding- No falls on Asphalt yet-but the scars are still there from offroading. |

Looks like a nice bike a fun one. The sight of the red clay has me itching to take my MTB out for a run on the trails. You are also adding fuel to the fire for my next build. I am torn between a rigid 29er or a cyclocross bike. It may come down to which Salsa frame goes on the best closeout sale, the La Cruz or the El Mariachi. Then again, it might turn out to be the Fargo. :twitchy: |
If your not falling, your not riding hard enough.:D
Very pretty bike with wheels and decals matching the bike. I'd be thinking about silver bar tape. |
I'd say, that if your still clipped when you hit the ground, it a Tombay, even if there was an evil root nearby..........:)
Sweet ride though, looks like fun in the woods. |

. I won't argue with the expert, but this is a fundamental change in my understanding of the Tombay concept. |
I only use this estimate based on the fact that if the foot had come unclipped in time, a slightly different result would occur. However, your interpretation has merit. The next time I'm laying on by back under the bike confering with the "Gardians of Tombay" I'll present them with the question.
Sorry Ron.........we can only give a provisional Tombay at this time. This may be counted later along with the absentee Tombays......:) |
The low 40s sound pretty nice about now. Nice bike too.
