Today's ride: Eye candy for riders in the frigid north (pics)

We haven't ridden a lot this month, so it felt GREAT to get out on the bikes today. We rode to Puddingstone Lake at Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park. We saw cyclists, walkers, and boaters... even water skiiers. It was a picture-perfect day with temps in the upper 70s.... couldn't have been better. Unfortunately, I accidently deleted most of the pictures I took but these show the highlights.

A water skiier is near the far right edge...

Thanks for sharing. I didn't post any pictures from today but it was just as nice. I was worried that the wind would come up like they predicted yesterday but it didn't so it was a very nice 71 or 72 all morning.

I feel sorry that you cannot experience the pleasure of winter bike bling. You can't enjoy studded tires, plastic insulated boots, wool sweaters, lobster mitts...heck, I've got a whole extra bike just for winter!

I feel so guilty on days like these... just think of all your water that we're not getting right now
More and more it's hard to think of a drought as "a beautiful day"

You do know that those deleted picture files can be recovered, don't you. I was surprised at how easy it is. Works just like un-deleting files from any other drive.

You think you're special - but where you are - you cannot ride on the water. [sigh]

Take a minute to check out the "wimp" birthday ride - some alternate scenic pictures.

Don't listen to them, Yen. They're just jealous. They think scraping ice off the car window at 6:00 a.m. builds character and that being able to shovel snow three times in a day is a virtue. We know, however, that the natural state of water is as a liquid (except in an ice chest surrounding beer), that sand goes on a beach, not a road, and that "pasty white" is not a healthy skin tone.

Fercryinoutloud, quit with the sour grapes! This is not our typical winter; typical is rainy and not this warm. This isn't unheard of, but not typical, and it won't last. As Stephanie Edwards said during the Rose Parade: "It can turn on a dime!"

You are clearly a victim of global warming. I feel sorry for you.

My house remains without power. That means I have a very small carbon footprint. I feel good about myself.

Put on a new roof with new gutters last spring. Yesterday the son shone brightly, although the temps never got above the low 20's. Today I need to repair the ceiling. Ice dam(n)s in the gutters.

It took me 2 hours to chip the ice off the car and driveway the other day so I could go to work. That, however, I chose to regard as exercise.

Gee Yen, those are great pictures but you're not going to ever entice me to leave my wet boots and frozen scarf behind for sunburns and sneakers. It's just too fantastic up here sliding and slipping everytime we step outside and watching the gas meter spin as the house tries to keep warm. I've posted some pics of my own to help illistrate the FUN that is the NorthEast.

Here's one taken last week at the brink of Niagara Falls. A lady walked accross the river down in the gorge just two days after we took this picture. Bet ya can't do that in Ca.

Now if it gets to be too cold we can always drive to the Conservatory and look at flowers indoors.
(Also a great way to warm up).

One flower pic, just to prove that we really do have blossoms up here in the frigid NE.

He he he, nice pics Yen. Thanks for sharing, and I truely do wish this freaking snow would just go away.

Happy Trails

Thank you for the beautiful picture of the Falls. My son and his family asked us to crank up the family assault vehicle and road trip to the Falls last October. They were beautiful. Of course, we stood on the lower overlook in your frozen picture as well as the one that the picture was taken from.

Here's my Son and one of my Grandsons from the frozen overlook in the picture:

Thank you again for the picture. I'm going to send your photo to my son.

Don't you hate it when your temp is below freezing and someone post's pics of what looked like a
fantastic ride. But come the height of summer and all that humidity and can almost certainly say that all that snow that others are experiencing now would be welcome.

Good riding days are scarce at present so take advantage of them. Just stop reminding me that I live in the wrong place. Temp today is around 25F but the 30mph wind will make it feel well below that. Think I'll be sitting indoors checking out a couple of wheels again.

Nice set of pics with a reminder of summer days to come.

All of the +/- comments only tell me that there's no place that is perfect. But some places might be closer.

This winter's getting so long that even second/third/fourth hand warm weather rides are better than nothing.
