Oddly it was very hard dealing with my cancer but I got lucky and it appears whipped for the moment. Been clear for a couple of years. Made me appreciate putting my feet on the floor every AM and and maybe not be quite as hard a nut as I was.
The tough one to deal with was my wife! I was not prepared to go through that as It just never dawned on me that she might beat me outa here. We have been married for 41 years now and it was just so much harder for me personally to deal with. I did my crying when we finally got that whipped last year, Was the first time I have been able to let go. So I turned in my time card and retired last year so we could do more together. Just make sure you keep your family and friends close they make it all bearable! With his help all things are possible. We never walk alone.

Best wishes to all of you. You're in my prayers.

That sounds promising, Dennis. I hope the radiation treatments don't knock you down too much.

A PET scan look for areas with a higher metabolic level, like a tumor. But it also lights up muscles that were recently used (my doctor told me not to bike for 24 hours before the test) and lights up areas of the brain that are being used (which is why you're not allowed to read in the 45 minutes after the injection). An inflamed area in the throat would have an unusual metabolic level. Some too hot wasabi, perhaps?

My results with prayer have been mixed at best of late, so I am just going to say I wish you the very best and my thoughts and hopes are with you.

Yeah, me too. At least I should be done by the end of April so I should start recovering before the season really heats up. I was looking at a calendar the other day and noticed that I could be going to the hospital in a snow storm and be mowing the lawn when I finish. :)

Dangit, not what I wanted to hear from Dennis or BD.

My scans one year after surgery still show me to be NED (No Evidence of Disease). Here's hoping that NED will soon befriend both of you, as well.

The Road forum talks about Freds and cyclists being Fredilicious. I hope we see NEDs here and that BD and Dennnis are NEDilicious very soon.

Seriously, keeping positive vibes and prayers for you both.

I'll quit complaining about my little tiny insignificant problems.............
Hang in there, guys.

BD- The power of the collective souls assembled here on your behalf will,I trust, both lift your spirit and bolster your strength. Let each of us spin these wheels (mentally, spritually, or actually) for the Dawg...

BD, thanks so much for keeping us in the loop. We can all learn from these experiences you and Dennis and Bud and Kerlenbach and others have gone through. This damned disease is all around us and we can't have too much information.
I really hope for the best possible outcome for all you guys.

Oh BD..... I'm waiting on pins and needles out here on the west coast, and hoping and praying it will be the best of news.

What's the quote? "No hill is too steep with the right gear and the right attitude".

I know I'm not as much a part of the community here as some of the more regular folks but I had to face the Big C a few years back so I think I know a little of what's going through your mind at the moment.

The notes above about the PET tests make it sound like this may turn out to be a red herring. I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed that this is the case.

BengeBoy 02-18-09 03:58 AM

Good luck, BD. Thanks for keeping us up to date. We're pulling for you.

Hang tough, Dawg.

That does not sound like necessarily a "good" thing, but it sure does sound better than hearing that they found cancer.

Many good thoughts are heading your way, Dawg. Keep that positive attitude - it's half the battle. We're all pulling for more good news!!!!!! :) :thumb: :)
