Service Manager Job, DAY 3
Good morning all!
I'm in Day THREE of my third career in my life. It's been busy with cleaning out junk, cleaning benches and tools, getting the parts cleaner to work again, things like that. Feel that I should be doing whatever I can and showing what can be done, before I ask others to do the same.
The season starts out slow around here, but We have full racks of new Bicycles, loads of parts, and we are ready for the main selling season. I need to hire a few more mechanics and have a good stack of applications and resumes to go through.
I am over the loss of my last Job, and for the most part it is all due to how I get treated at the Bicycle Shop. I am so happy that this is all working out.
Chris

That's great. Sounds like you really like this opportunity.
As for me, I'm still playing the job search game. I think I bottomed out mid winter and am on the rebound. Got my discipline building back and a focus on where I want to go. But job hunting is a strange thing. You never know how close you are to the end till you get an offer.

As they say, "When one door closes another opens." Sounds like the on that opened for you is a good fit.

Boy oh boy. On his fourth day, he's running a 10% off sale on spring tune-ups!
Our Chris ain't messin' around. And since he won't toot his own horn, I'll toot it for him. Listen to what they say about him in this week's customer newsletter:
I don't ever recall so much gushing there over a new staffer. (Or more correctly, a significantly promoted staffer.)
Edit: Hey, wait a minute, Chris. You posted yesterday that you were working in your third day. Um, the shop is closed on Wednesdays in the off-season. So you're already going in on your day off?

Chris, I'm glad it's all worked out so well for you. It's great to read success stories such as yours. Many folks I used to work with have landed jobs that they enjoy also. All of your success stories takes some of the fear out of these scary times.
You're not missing much back at the old plant. More layoffs and the statement by our upper management that "safety is no longer crutch" when he was quizzed about staffing size. I think this chemical plant is about to close for good, one way or the other.

I hope it works out for you and that your shop has a good sales year. There's a chance that selling bikes could turn out to be an "up" industry in our economic downturn.
