Sunday's ride - sort of - pics

We were out at our cottage in the Eastern Townships of Quebec this weekend, but I forgot my camera in the city, so these pictures are from May 17, 2008, but it was the same as this Sunday's ride - one of my favourites.

I love open roads like this:

And this is the view of Iron Hill off to the right:

A view of Mt. Sutton ski area taken from the bike:

Outside Brome Village on the way to Sutton Junction:

The crab apple blossoms were out last year, but it was too early this weekend:

Another view of Mt. Sutton from Valley Road:

It was a good year for the marshmallow farmers last year and this year, too:

They feed the marshmallows to the donkeys:

This intense little climb keeps going as it turns to the right:

This downhill isn't steep but it carries one at 50 kph 2/3 into the photo:

The absence of cars on the roads in these pictures makes me nervous.

Beautiful ride, Cone Wrench. Some of the scenery resembles that in my neck of the woods.

That last photo looks like a road just begging to be hammered.

I can ride and have ridden in some of the most horrendous road and traffic conditions across this country, but given my 'druthers, I'll ride on roads like this. Lack of cars is one of the qualities that makes a great route for me. For me, moving through these landscapes on peaceful roads on a bicycle is what cycling is all about.
