No ride today in the rain but I did 30 miles yesterday afternoon, and then 17 more miles after dinner on an Ice-Cream run. 47 for the day felt just about right!

Here's the bike at a local park....

...and at home with some Old Guy?!?!

Skipper and I did Irma's for the first time this year. The apple-pecan crunch pie was great, however, having to wear leg warmers, a long sleeve shirt under my jersey and a jacket in the middle of July t'was not so hot!

I rode with fellow 50+ rider NealH, 73 miles and 7000'+ of climbing in 5:20 ride time/about 6 hours total time. It was a spectacular day, low humidity, mid 50s to start, mid 70s to finish. On a few of the descents at 6000' we both had some serious goosebumps with temps in the low 50s up there. We have some pictures to post and will try to do that later.

Rode this AM with some friends. 25 miles on a beautiful summer morning. We're having a "cold snap" today--it was only in the low 80's! And light winds--a near miracle.

Now I've showered and I'm thinking a little nap would be nice...

The weather was terrible this morning//;Greetings to all!// but inspite of every thing I enjoyed a fun 5 or six miles on the little ALU /ACCESS thay said this little bike wouldnt stand up but I beg to differ.with its long frame and a different bar and low gears I enjoy IT in the hard going. Im haveing trouble with my right wrist[seems related to an older broken thumb injury] but my streek of days ridden is still in tack[dont know how many but who cares./Kenneth

Finally after almost a week in Shakey town I got to ride. I sat on my rear for a week in meetings and airplanes and I went out and rode 30 miles this AM. This mornings ride was not althogether fast but a good cruising pace. Tomorrow I plan to ride 40 with a nice hill in the middle.

40.1 miles this afternoon at a nice and smooth aerobic Z2 effort with a 19.3 mph ave.. Was breezy at first when I rode out into the wind, then as expected, the wind died down for my way home. Temp a perfect 65 degrees. I didn't want to push any big gears of do any hard efforts in order to save myself for tomorrows Ohio State CR 55-59 yrs Championship Race.

Cgallagh organized a BF NorCal Slowpoke ride. Bikingshearer, Bigbossman, T4MV, cantdrv55, overthere, Joel S & Mrs. Joel S, MarkoPolo, galyon showed up early this morning to ride over toward Napa Co. First loop was 40-ish miles, the second loop about 24, for 64.8 miles; we averaged 14.9. The second loop was hot, easily over 100* (but I don't know by how much); we were all crispy by the time we arrived home. One rider had 3 flat tires so the group split up so not everyone suffered.

Following the ride we had a potluck and beer, which tastes fabulous after a long, hot ride. I believe everyone had a good time.

Not so great day for a Sunday ride with cloudy skies and 20% chance of rain but did 40 miles anyway.

Neal and I did a 45.3 mile, 3950' climbing "recovery" ride today. 2:56 ride time, 15.4mph average. Another great weather day for a ride. We actually had to start in arm warmers and vests with temps in the low 50s but shed them after an hour. It was only 57 when we got back to the cars at 1pm. Very nice!

edit. Total for Sat. and Sun./ 119 miles, 11,000+' of climbing, 8:15 ride time.

Yep - got my miles in today, not quite 40 but really 39. Stuck a 900' climb about 1/3 of the way into it. There is an area west of me that has 6 nice climbs of varying difficulty - this hill was number 3 in the list, number 6 is 1100' with brutal grades in it. This one is actually almost the perfect hill for a fast ascent as the grades are not overwhelming and the steeper sections are just short enough that they can be conquered with a short burst out of the saddle.

It was good to get out, a perfect day - mid 70's & low humidity.

Left close to 6:30 am and rode 66.35, BUT Mapmyride says 74.XX..Whats up with that?, in 3 hours 55 minutes.
I am thinking that Mapmyride may be off because I had to turn off auto route due to a new RailTrail that is in the ride and I did it twice, once going and then on the return. Guess that the milage could be wrong with that part? I dunno and not too worried either.

Weather was brisk in the early AM hours and I wore arm warmers too. Beautiful day and deer everyewhere on the railtrail part of the ride! I think I saw a bald eagle as well but not 100% sure, it did have a white head and tail feathers, whatever it was it was cool.

Good ride and the shower at the end was so welcome! I could hve napped but fought it off and watch the TDF finish and Open Championship too.

After watching the live broadcast of today's "don't miss" TdF stage, I set out for an afternoon ride. It was unseasonably cool today, between 80 and 90F while I rode. I decided to ride as long as I felt good, hoping to get in at least 30 miles. It was one of those magical days when evrything felt great, so I ended up riding 50 miles. The after-ride nap capped off a great day. Now I'm watching a replay of the race.

I had one of those weekends that was like a dream. The weather in central NC was outstanding as the temps dipped into the high 70s, low 80s. The Saturday ride with the club was special. Everyone felt fast and before anyone noticed, we were clocking around 20 MPH average speed over the first 15 miles. I took a turn at pull, then we completed a 47 mile ride at 19 average speed, the fastest ride for the B group this year. So today, I signed up for a event ride and elected the 20 mile route so I could do a nice recovery ride. Ran into a few freinds from the Thursday night club ride, and landed up doing a really nice 40 miler. We had a nearly prefect 6 bike pace line all riding at a comfortable pace taking turns pulling. I could have continued but the end of the ride came up so we had to stop. Just one of those weekends where it all comes together.

Today's ride started yesterday. At 7:00 pm, around 40 of us rode out of Italy, Tx on the Lone Star Randonneurs annual night brevets. There were ride lengths of 216k and 300k. I did the 216k. The main excitement of the night came when I hit an armadillo, but I didn't go down. I ended up with 137.1 miles and finished at 4:30 am for a 9:30 total time.

On Saturday, my wife and I rode to Peet's (coffee shop and bike rider hangout) in Los Altos hills. It was a beautiful day with light winds and high 70s to low 80s - 34 miles - 1900 feet of climbing. On Sunday, we rode to San Gregorio near the coast over Skyline - 47 miles - 3700 feet of climbing. Once again a beautiful day with temps in the 70s and low humidity.

40 flat tandem miles on the 18th with DW. Averaged about 18 mph which is ok for old folk. Did a somewhat hilly, 29 mi. recovery ride today (19th) before going to the dump followed by catching an airplane.
