16 miles of MTB trails. A combination of open doubletrack and twisty singletrack. I'm tired.

Today was the first time I accomplished what I wanted to do. I stretched first then went riding about 2 miles as a warm up. Then I went into a speed sprint pumping every thing I had for as long as I could using every bit of energy I had and ended up a little shy of 1/2 mile [ .478 mi ] distance. Then I rode another 1.5 miles to cool down and then went into another speed sprint, again pumping every thing I had and came in at a distance of .327 miles. The last 2 miles I did a cool down. Keep in mind my EF is 30.
So my total distance was 7.884, Ave HR was 105, VO2 Max 45.
Great ride.

So I understand you are going to make a long distance tour to Canada? Great!! I think you don't have to be afraid of too little training. Me and my wife made many long distance trips in europe. My wife hardly trained for it. But when you bike you will see that it goes better every day. During the trip you train yourself!

April 30, 27+ miles today. Weatherman was calling for rain so I got out early. I need 12 more miles to hit 800 miles this month so I might go out later for a short ride. 800 miles would be my largest month ever.
27.5 miles today
788.5 miles this month
2626.5 miles this year
81 ride days TY vs 74 ride days LY
4873 miles needed to hit 2010 goal (7500 miles)
I am @ 35% of goal. I need to be @ 66.6% (5000 miles) by the end of August
691 miles ahead of this date last year

yesterday rode with my brother and left computer(well Cateye) at home so it is undocumented mileage, 28 miles.
Today I rode 63.81 and had a crash at 46. Knee is cut-scraped and left wrist hurts but bike is okay. Stupid move on my part resulting in hitting a curb at a 45 degree angle with no time for a bunny hop to escape while making a left turn after a 18 wheeler passed going to opposite way. Embarrassing
month total is 635 miles. I will try and bump that up next month

Rode out to get an Ice Cream from the stand about 2 1/2 miles away. It was one of those rides where everything felt really good. I got home 21 miles later!!

Rode to work on Tuesday and Thursday and this evening rode 10 miles in the wind. The last half of the ride was mostly tailwind or favorable crosswinds - on on slightly downhill stretch I was able to maintain 30 for a mile or so. Love tailwinds!
Supposed to seriously rain/storm Sat/Sun. Damn! I can finish putting trim around new kitchen flooring. Some fun!

Unfortunately, my favorite road bike route means riding into a headwind on the way back if there's any wind at all, and yesterday was no exception. I had planned on 25-30 miles, but met a friend along the way who talked me into going "a few miles" farther on a route I was unfamiliar with. Well, two wrong turns and a few miles of backtracking later, I was at 30 miles already with 12 miles to go into a stiffening headwind. At least I had the enjoyment of giving him a lot of verbal abuse about his navigating skills.
But I survived and overall it was a good workout and I feel like I'm in good shape for this point in the season.

30 miles, well actually only 29. Wasn't sure where I was going when I started, just followed my nose. Waltham to Lexington to Bedford to Concord to Lexington back to Waltham. Beautiful weather. Not much wind. Mid-70's. Don't recommend Rt62 eastbound through Lexington though, it's a bit rough. Life is good.

Rode 57 miles today. Went to Seal Beach then Huntington Beach. On the return trip did 24 miles in 1hour and 12 minutes=20 mph. Very little wind because i left at 8am. Got back before the wind started to kick up. It seams it takes me a while to really warm up. A few miles from my house on a side street was a mobile rate machine. I just was spinning along it read 17 mph. Went back and waited for traffic to clear and sprinted as best as i could in the short distance from a traffic light to the machine, i hit 24mph in 52/15 gears. Good day for a ride. Sunny and 70 degrees. Was 56 degrees when i left.

Today I accomplished one of my goals. I cycled all the way to my church, which is 5 miles out. I knew no one would be there so I just took a short rest and cycled back the 5 miles home
My knees are a little achy but otherwise I feel okay. I went in the late morning but came back in the afternoon heat. (It reached 92 degrees today in Florida).
Except for the heat and the gradual fatigue towards the end, I enjoyed the ride. I was relatively comfortable with the wicking type gear I bought and had on. I drank plenty of water and took a few mini rests under the shade.
It was all good until some guy on the passenger side of a car shouted the "N" word at me, as they sped on by in a white car. Yes, they were in a white car, which seems strangely appropriate in a twisted sort of way.
The ironic thing about it all is that I'm not even Black. Go figure.

Finally got my wife back on her bike this morning for a short ride. She fell a few weeks ago and messed up her knee so has been off the bike. We did 7 miles then stopped for breakfast before heading home. I took a solo ride after that up the coast and enjoyed the scenery but not the wind. 35 miles total plus getting my wife back in the saddle equals a good day.

72 mile club ride today. Not a ton of climbing but the pace was too high for me and I rode the last 10 or so miles by myself. I haven't done a lot of these fast rides lately and I really didn't enjoy it. Looking forward to going back up in the mountains.

NIce pics and mini-report, Dawg.
I got in 50 miles yesterday in Marin County CA on a Training Ride for AIDS/LifeCycle. Absolutely GORGEOUS day, and I forgot my camera. ARRRRGGGHHHH!
I hope to get in 180-200 miles in the next 4 days.
