Smoke from all the wildfires cleared out and I took advantage (even if it was windy)
12 miles with over half being against a headwind... but smoke free outside so I took advantage of that. Blood Pressure right now is 117 / 76

Rather windy ride along Lake Norman while visiting with the mother-in-law in NC. Fall weather is here, as temps in the low 60s felt cooler with the persistent winds. Logged in 34 miles with the new Domane.
Hooked on the wide (32mm) tubeless tires running lower pressures. Doubt I’ll be going back to tubes and 28s again.

Arlington Loop
My friend Cris and I drove down to Arlington and rode the three trail Arlington Loop. Only about 14 miles, but as it consists of three trails it covers a lot of different areas. Most interesting is the section of the Mount Vernon trail that goes along the Potomac past Reagan National Airport and has great views of DC. The Custis trail is narrow and hilly with lots of climbs through the woods.
It was a beautiful day so the trails were very crowded with pedestrians, picnickers, and cyclists of all ages from tots to seniors like me. Speeds were low, sometimes a slow walk, and with the afternoon sun visibility was challenging.
It was fun and the small taste makes me want to ride the Mount Vernon Trail again, this time with a stop at the mansion. I haven’t been there since 1981 so it would be very interesting to see again with the new historical perspectives.

Nice morning ride, a bit windy here in FL. Total about 30 miles. I decided to keep the new Domane here as a replacement for the old one. To the left of the bike is a recent pond due to all the rains. Problem is, it attracts gators.

44 miles mostly doing various errands with numerous stops, including lunch at home. A leisurely 13.3 mph on a gorgeous, breezy fall day. I think it did not hit 70 deg.Love it!

Summer has always been my season of choice but no complaints about Fall days like today!!! It was sunny, light breeze and around 70 degrees.
Nice round of golf with the fellas this morning and a 68 miler to the in-laws at the lake after lunch. A nice day to just enjoy being outside. Perfect fire pit weather as well.

48 degrees to start this morning

On the 13 tee with a couple other fellas

Crossing Swearing Creek on High Rock Lake

Riding the Pinarello today

Looking out towards the lake

On the road after lunch. 68 degrees

Went out for an hour between rain showers. Since I could only do 17 miles I pushed it but had to stop and spend some quality time with a couple of lovely, and very friendly, ladies. Loved the tailwind today, really flew.

It was a perfect fall morning for cycling.
Rode the usual 25km route on my Single Speed Langster to the cemetery. I try to bike out there every weekend during riding season.....

Did a 30 mile ride on the nice, level Tanglefoot Trail here in Mississippi. It was a great day for riding....around 70 degrees and cloudy.

It was such a nice day my 50+ mile ride over to High Rock Lake turned into 73 miles. I took Bringle Ferry Rd end to end from Salisbury to Healing Springs and then straight on into Denton......about 24 miles without a turn!
An embarrassing moment during the ride. I took a short side street through Landis. As I was riding I looked up and just to my left on the sidewalk at the back of a Lutheran church, a minister was standing at a lecturn facing the street. Just across the street the congregation was sitting in their cars listening to him preach. At that point it was too late to turn around so I just rode right through their service!! My bad!!!

A nice fireman statue

Running late so breakfast on the road via a “pedal through”

1st of 2 turtle saves today

2nd turtle save

Terrific post ride meal at the in-laws. Country ham, cornbread, pintos, slaw and onions...all mixed together with extra bean broth.

Summer has returned with vengeance in north central FL. Yesterday in searing heat - both sun and wind were intense (lots of sunscreen helped).
And today under very dark, threatening skies and crushing FL humidity. I logged in 38 and 42 miles total for the two days.
The Domane continues to impress and is my new 'go to' bike. I think the bike is officially broken in...........I got to break in two very nice endurance bikes (Domane and Bianchi Infinito) this year!
Closing in on 700 miles for the month, which is not bad considering I missed a bunch of days in September. October is one of my favorite riding months, both in FL and in VA.

Did a 14'ish mile out-&-back to get weed-n-feed from Home Depot. Got to fight a head wind going home, along with the 20 pound bag in the saddlebag! Had to use some cord to keep the zipper from coming open!
