Got in late from Boone last night after a quick but really fun visit with My daughter and her family. No time last night to get things ready for this morning’s ride.

Woke up just in time to eat breakfast and get ready to ride the 15 miles over to the start.

Oatmeal and toast prepared and eaten. Check!
Revised 67 mile route downloaded into my bike computer. Check!
Bike computer plus front and rear lights charged and put on the bike. Check!
Two water bottles filled and put on the bike. Check!
Tires pumped up. Check!
Snacks plus phone and spare money put in my rear shirt pockets. Check!
Cycling gloves and cycling shoes put on. Check!
Riding glasses cleaned and put on. Check!
Forecast called for rain on the 15 mile ride back from the finish so cycling cap on my head and rain jacket in my rear pocket. Check! Check!

Ready to roll and off we go for the 15 mile ride over to the start. Off we go!!

I ride the 15 miles over to the start and when I get there I take off my sunglasses to put them on my helmet and my helmet is not on my head????

Oh geez......with the cycling cap I didn’t notice that I didn’t have on my helmet. I’ve had enough crashes to know a helmet is the last thing you want to forget!!!

The fellas at the bike shop are terrific. They loaned me a new out of the box helmet!!

92 miles total for the day......77 miles with a helmet!!!

I installed 700x32's on the Roubaix and then test rode it in front of house. No helmet or eyeglass mirror on riding a few mph and felt weird and very uneasy. Biked a 101 miler yesterday and never felt weird or uneasy even with vehicles passing 55mph to the left of me with only a white line on the road keeping them away. Riiiiiiiiiiight !!!!

No I didn't ride today. After a kidney operation 6 months ago am now ok. But have lost motivation for cycling. Over the past six months I haven't had more than three or four rides all short ones, 20 miles (30k) or so and a few occasional short rides on turbo trainer . I am pushing 79 and used to ride every day before the op. I am looking for the motivation to train, ride get fit for a 160k ride in October. It is not an easy flat ride. I live in New Zealand and have no riding companions. Nor know anyone interested in riding. I think I am pretty unfit now lol.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hope you feel better soon. Even a jaunt around the block might get you going and inspire you. Is there a local biking club where you live? My father-in-law who is 77 rides with a senior club is the hills of Syracuse, NY. The oldest member is 90 this year and still gets out there for 30+ miles. New Zealand must be amazing to cycle in. I regret not going when my wife and I were in Australia. Get out there and turn those cranks!

No ride tonight, rain here most of the afternoon but Memorial Day was memorable with perfect weather and in football practice terminology a "2 a day" with a 42 mile ride at 8:00 AM in Goldsboro and a 24 mile 6:00 PM ride in Kinston.

I did the same thing on a double, leaving a rest stop. Had to ride back and get it. That's not the only time. It's really easy to do if one has a head hair issue and wears a skull cap all the time.

No mamil photos, just a ride on a route that I haven't felt strong enough to do since 2016. 2.5 hours, 38 miles, 1060 kJ, 9 PRs. Consistent training helps a lot. The route has a couple of particularly difficult climbs and I'm missing about 150w from back when. On a steep section, I had a car which I'd been holding up shout encouragement at me. Guess I looked like I needed it!

Had a wonderful ride in the 6am hour on my all original 1985 Takara Prestige. I'm going to change out the tubes, tires and chain tomorrow. Bikes in great shape for a bike thrown out at the curb. 27" Araya rims are straight, tires gumwalls are shedding so the ride wasn't that far but on a newly paved street I put the pedal down in top gear, glorious! After work I rode my late 90's GT Timberline, just changed out the tires to Schwable Big Apples 26"x2.15". They ride smooth and fast. Once again just around a couple blocks. A good day.

High 70s, finally! I still felt a little chilly riding into the wind, which for only the 2nd or 3rd time this year was below 10 mph. Doc appt made me limit the ride to 20 miles.

On 6-2, we did our longest mileage "Non E-assist" ride since 2011, we rode a round trip of 47.5 miles from our apt. in Co. Springs to the Pikes Peak International Raceway, south of Fountain, CO. We are building up mileage for my wife Jo's 1st. ADA Tour de Cure-Rocky Mountains Ride on August 28th. It's a "Virtual" ride so we pick the distance and destination, we are looking at doing a "overnight" ride up to Castle Rock, CO. via Hwy. 83 N. which is 60+ miles, then stay overnight and ride back the next day. Weds. was partly sunny, warm and not too windy, although the clouds kept coming over Pikes Peak we never got rained on and Google Maps told us it was 26 miles each way but I guess our way of getting to Fountain and Old Pueblo Road to the race track fell a little short of our 50 mile day goal. Oh well it worked out and we made it back tired but happy knowing we can still do that many miles in less than 6 hrs. (includes lunch, rest/water stops and photos).

Today, I rolled around on my single-speed Schwinn trike again. I was thinking about how tired we can get just sitting around during our day, then go out and blow out some mileage on a bike path ----- and suddenly feel rested!!?! Seems illogical, but it always is that way.

Today was one of those bluebird days when all seems right with the world. This is deceiving as even in a prosperous region, the Rhode Island Food Bank can document people without enough food. In any case, temps in the low 80's and almost cloudless. Everyone else thought it is a fine day also as there were many bikes out. I rode to the local state park and sat for a while admiring the view across Narragansett Bay. Then I rode a mile into town to a small park by the harbor and sat for another while noticing that almost everyone has their boats back on a mooring. Bristol is a pleasant New England town and sits at the end of the East Bay Bike Path so many cyclists will ride 13 or so miles to Bristol for lunch and back in the afternoon. This means lots of bikes in town. From when I began cycling about 10 years ago I've noticed a steady increase in the number of bikes in town but there has been a big increase since the pandemic

Left early to beat the heat. 30 miles out and back.I can always find a shady spot behind an LDS church. Most have a picnic pavilion out back. This one happens to be at 15 miles from the house. Also has a functional water fountain.

It's 78 degrees, and the high today in El Paso is predicted to be 108, so I'm glad I rode in the morning so as to not experience the joys of Heat Stroke 😂🤣😂

I discovered that with a strong tailwind and a slight downhill, I can go from zero to ten in less than 30 minutes.
