Finally the sub-zero temps and snow have gone and the left over muck on the roads and trails is slowly going away! We got in a 16 mile ride we stopped at the Sacred Grounds Café for some hot green tea to have worth our brown bag lunch. The café is a climb as it's along the North Cheyenne Canyon her in Co. Springs Colorado. Headed back to pick up the Pikes Peak Greenway to downtown then the Shoocks Run Trail north back to the apartment. 50 F sunny but the breeze was chilly.🚴👍😁

Mid40*s this morning. Thin overcast. Calm.
20 miles on the road. One close pass (~2ft) by large minivan.
Getting a good many shorter (10-20mi) rides on these dry days.

oh, mid-ride break at a favored playground by the grandkids.
edit: Why do little, little kids just love to run themselves to near exhaustion in a big open field?

hehe funny how we forget stuff like that as we get older. maybe it's because they're so controlled all the time.as-in sit here, don't move, line up, be quiet etc etc. by time we get older we are so trained. when was the last we rolled down a grassy hill? I think falling off my bike is the closest I've come in many decades

this 3yo (soon) girl hasn't been controlled or directed, 'cepting for safety needs. What she has is a mother who believes "What you may learn on the playground of Life is best learned early". They drive to playgrounds within about 10miles to experience languages, colors, cultures, bark / foam, climbs / falls, take your turn, etc. Sometimes masked, sometimes not.

After 3 years off due to plantar fasciitis and a bad back, decided to give it a try and ran (I mean jogged) 3.5 miles with my dog. After gardening for 3 hours cleaning up overgrown plants and trimming back the dead stuff, went on a leisurely 19 mile ride. It will be interesting to see how stiff I will be tomorrow morning.

This is a dog

Not a dog on my ride

18-mile ride using 4 different urban/rail-trails then meeting my wife Jo, downtown to get ourselves a "No Buns", lettuce wrap western BBQ cheeseburger for our Valentine's Day Lunch! She had a AM doctor's appointment and walked to downtown to meet me, had the burger with baked green pea crisps and unsweet iced tea. She took the direct home, I wandered over to Shooks Run Trail then headed home. Sunny, warmish 51 F, easter egg blue skies no clouds!

Thanks to our ... "enlightened" ... Guv'ner's roughly 2 year 3 week 4 days and counting Assisted Living (and other) facilities Covids lockdown, I haven't been able to ride.
Unless for an scheduled doctor appointment or emergency hospital visit, if I get caught putting one foot ... actually, not even a full foot ... off the facility property, I get quarantined a minimum of seven days, plus however long it takes for the Covid test results to come in.
With the increased number of new state cases of all the different variations of Covid-19 being reported every week, vaccinated or not, I don't see him (or his replacement if he is not reelected this upcoming election) lifting the 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬😡😡🤬🤬 lockdown in 2022 ... maybe not until after whoever the next president is sworn in, in January 2025 ... or possibly after the winner of the 2028 election is sworn in, in January, 2029.
If this bloody blasted lockdown is ever lifted during whatever time I have remaining, It is going to take time until a 60~70 mile ride on my traditional Miami Sun trike, is "a short ride" again.

41 miles with 3100’ of climbing on the gravel bike. Slowest time ever on that loop but I did have a good lunch. Used a lot of easy gears!!

Got about 30mi, starting earlier than usual. Kinda bonked (I think) on the final climb, as I ate too little breakfast and carried nothing but a hydrating water bottle. All’s well that ends well.

We had a run cancelled Thursday night due to ice and a 5k called off today for the same reason. It did warm up enough I was able to get in a short 6 mile spin through the neighborhood dodging patches of ice this afternoon though. It was a needed break from watching the news today.

Replaced my Phenom saddle with a Brooks C17 Cambium and never looked back.
Second move was to replace tires with Schwalbe Marathon Plus, resulted in a firmer ride and
less concern about flats.
