Finally ran out of excuses and got out today. Rode a 6 mile loop around my local lake.
It was crowded so I only did one lap. It looked like groups were training for a triathlon and another group training for cross country.

Just did another 13 miler. It was much more humid than yesterday. This weather reminds me of Houston.

I stopped at a couple of garage sales for rest stops.

Here's hoping summer is gentle in Seattle.

The heat and humidity took a break today so I got out for the usual sixteen mile neighborhood ride.

Cheers,

Scott

Got a break in the heat so did a nice ride through rural NJ and some fancy 'burbs. On one good descent the wind was blowing directly uphill making 40 mph feel like lightspeed. The climb coming out of Califon, NJ was beautiful, it was a skinny winding forest road that made me think of N. California, my buddy said France.

The 3 mile climb out of Califon on Frog Hollow Rd was up this lane skinny enough that usually when cars would meet, one car would have to stop to let the other get by. No painted lines at all. It was through a mature forest that gave us shade all the way up. Pics? Riding with my buddy there's No Stopping on Climbs For Any Reason, Pictures Included.

Did a hard ~100 minute ride last Friday when it was around 88* with 80% humidity, afterwards I felt like crap. For a few days. I was hydrated, sweating the entire time, drinking plain water - didn't appear to be heat stroke or heat exhaustion, but a very different sensation, I just felt like a cooked noodle until yesterday. No idea wtf happened, but it was not pleasant. Since our weather has been the same every day, I haven't ridden since, but intend to at least ride the Vado tmr morning and take it easy. Really loathe the summers here in central NC. Yes I'm a baby, and proud of it.

I used to handle the heat a lot easier. I have got soft once I passed 60.

Find a Vietnamese restaurant, and have some pho. Instant recovery lunch for the symptoms you describe (lots of water, salt, and carbs).

I was telling the guy I rode with that once the temp is back down into the 50's and 60's, I'll ride all day every day (exaggeration, but multi-hour rides several days a week are the norm). He said once it gets into the 40's, he's done. That's when I have to put on long pants lol.

pdlamb that is a great suggestion, and there is an awesome restaurant for that about 2 miles from my home - brilliant!

Just some loops around the neighborhood this evening for ~ 5 miles. First time I've been on my bike in several days.

The heat is miserable, plus I've had to run errands in town which wears me out since I drive so infrequently in traffic.

Another early morning ride with chilly temperature(apologies to the people who have unreasonably hot temperatures) I used my headband for my ears. I didnít get 20 miles this morning only 17 but I had unexpected company. He ran along side me for about a mile. He turned around at the overpass. On my

way home I saw that people had found him and tied him up. Further down the road I saw his ownerís looking for him. I told them were he was.

I got out early this morning. Did a 6 mile loop around a lake. I only did one lap- there was a large group of high school cross country athletes training.
Got 6 miles in before 8am. 82* and 81% humidity. I could see the air at times. 😄

I got out for 15 miles around mid morning.

I was anxious to try out my new long sleeved 'sun, UV shirt'. I've never owned one before. I was pretty impressed with how it helped to relieve the heat. When underway, it gave the sensation of a relatively cool breeze passing through the fabric.

Beautiful day and I must have been feeling good because I did an extra lap and got twenty miles in around the neighborhood. No pic today since Iím running out of interesting focal points without getting repetitive.

Cheers,

Scott

I escorted two Warm Showers guests on a short tour around town yesterday, a 20-mile loop to see Red Rocks Amphitheater, Dinosaur Ridge, and downtown Golden. Luca is in his 50s, from Italy. Flint, in his 40s, is from PA. They're traveling together across the US this summer. They will attempt to ascend 14,250' Mt Blue Sky today on their way west. They're adventurous souls, out having a great one.
