40 miles zooming around a cemetery with 5 other riders in addition to my wife and one of the other rider's wife who rode their bikes around the graveyard at their own pace. Afterward we went to a local restaurant and had some good food and spirits.

You did 40 more miles than I managed today. Or yesterday. Or the day before.

OH, I hope not!
My wife will kill me since it's always my fault when bad luck arrives. We practice the "Mad Skillz" needed to race through turns with riders on either side and work on high intensity efforts needed for crit racing. The ladies rode the same .86 mile circuit and provided another obstacle to race around.
Here is a video invite from an earlier ride this past spring.

Did my usual 30 miler today. My wife has been telling me to ride earlier in the day before the temperature gets too high, so last Monday I left the house at 10 AM when the temp was in the mid-80s (~29C). As it turned out the morning humidity was unbearable!!
So today I went back to my usual riding time. I left home just after noon when the temperature was higher but the humidity was lower. The ride was much better.
I even stopped to take a few pics and sampled some blackberries that grow along the bike path.

They're not quite ripe, but when they are someone will have some tasty blackberry cobbler.
Cobbler = the better tasting first cousin of pie. Yum.

46.7 miles yesterday and 48.5 today. Today was much hotter than yesterday but when you start early, you certainly beat the heat which was in the 80's yesterday and 90 today when I quit. Those berries are plentiful along the MUP but they are not ripe yet, maybe in few more days.

I did the regular 30 mile ride for lunch at Smith's Coffeehouse. The weather was perfect, the temperature was in the low 80's and the wind stayed in the tolerable range
I stopped to take a picture of the tree stump with the cactus carving but the locals seemed to be guarding it....maybe they were just staring at our group.

Miles schmiles; I went to the store, dropped off recycle, and picked up dog food at the Co-op. Maybe 7.5 miles. The bike is an older Schwinn hybrid with a trailer behind. It is the only bike that "fits" me and was given to me by a good friend. He felt sorry for me as I never ride a bike with low enough standover. It does perform well but with 26" tires, the speed I'm used to is not impossible. Wing Nut.

66 miles today. Slowly increasing distance to work up to 100 miles. 78 to 80 degrees, slight breeze 4 to 9 mph. Lots of school kids and families out today, was good to see. One family teen gave me a high five and the rest cheered me on, perked me up.

I had spinal surgery in March, and the surgeon does not want me on the bike until September (6 months post-surgery). I am doing lots of exercise walking and light weight training and feeling terrific.
Best wishes to all for a healthy and enjoyable summer.

Crap no, my rear derailleur was Fed up. But I missed a terrible storm that brought large portions of trees down. I will ride in the rain but not severe thunderstorms, which it looks like are going to be delivered to us here in Chicago-land all next week. Sigh.

I rode yesterday (but my power went out during the last half hour of my ride and stayed out for 7 hours!). I forgot my gloves, hit and maimed a chipmunk, got hit by a tree branch when the wind picked up (a HUGE STORM rolled in), and got blown off the road into gravel.

I rode for a little over 2 hours this morning on the bike paths and quiet side streets around Grayton Beach, Florida. I'm here for a family reunion. Looking forward to some fresh seafood. The beaches are white and beautiful. No signs of the mess a few miles offshore, at least not for now.

I joined NealH on the Big Walker Metric in Wytheville, Va. this morning. 63 miles, 4500' of climbing in 4hr ride time and 4:23 total. I had a hard time keeping on Neal's wheel today. I hope it was getting up at 2:30am and driving 215 miles for a 7:30am start that did it, though I'm most likely just not in good enough shape.

Did 40 miles today when I had only expected to do 20 or 30. Turned out to be a really nice day with a brisk southerly wind that made coming home a breeze. Smart move heading South instead of North. Always like the wind at my back on the way home.

Riding has taken a back seat during the month of May and early June. I had to put my wife in the hospital for an extended period during May so I have been learning how to be a nurse, grocery shop, run the vac and cook. Things are starting to return to normal now so the mileage should go up from here I hope.
30.8 miles today 6/19
420 miles this month
3305 miles this year
105 ride days TY vs 106 ride days LY
4193 miles needed to hit 2010 goal (7500 miles)
I am @ 44% of goal. I need to be @ 66.6% (5000 miles) by the end of August
374 miles ahead of this date last year

I rode about 43 miles on a club ride yesterday - computer crapped out so I wouldn't know distance if it weren't a mapped ride. Replaced batteries and know that I rode 18 miles this morning. Maybe some more this evening.

Got back from OBX yesterday and rode 46 miles this morning
I met a few dudes (locals) in OBX that rode every morning at 5:30 from Food Lion. Very nice guys and Mark showed me a ride I would never had found. It was half in the woods which helped with the sun.
They invited me to ride with them which I sorta wanted to do but could just not get there at 5:30am, my start time every morning was 6 and it was about 5 miles to the Food Lion so I never rode with them except the two times, one each, when I ran across Mark lost and then coming back from the ride Mark showed me I met up with Stan( could be wrong with name and if so my apologies)
If anyone is in OBX check these guys out, they were very nice imo. Thy told me everyday at 5:30 and 6 on Sat & Sun.

Rode to downtown KC and back, 32 miles. Was able to get out before the heat and humidity showed up.

Only 36 miles today. The sun and temperatures were OK . But the wind scary. We stuck to less vulnerable roads, but we still rode.

Thanks it was touch and go for a while but things have improved greatly. She had a great team of Doctors. A new bike will not be in the near future with all of the Dr bills but I will gladly take the wife instead.

It was hot yesterday (low 90s) so I only did 22 miles. I had my Camelbak and most of the hardcore roadies who usually nod or wave barely acknowledged me. Was it because of the Camelbak? Are Camelbaks only for mtn biking? Is it a sacrilege to ride a road bike while wearing a Camelbak? At least I didn't get thirsty.
