We were lucky, compared to places like Providence RI. I read earlier the International Airport there got 37.9" of snow, a new record by close to 50%!

The 9" we received hardly seems like much on an inconvenience in comparison, even if it's cleared by hand.

I did get out late this morning and my ride only consisted of 14.3 miles as I had obligations before riding and also wanted to go to the senior center for a yoga class and rummikub. Which I did make.

We have had some cold weather and very strong winds on Sunday and Monday so there was no riding for me. Today the wind speed was only 20 mph and that is doable.

Today our wind was over 20mph gusting to 35-40mph.
Tomorrow looks great.

I get not wanting to ride with those high winds, I have been thinking though I may have to find a way to work with those winds.

I got out to ride today and rode for 25.7 miles. I waited until 10:30 am and the temp came above 50 degrees but it was a nice day for riding not to much wind and sunny skies.

When gusts are 30mph+ I stay inside.
Last year I wouldn’t ride if the wind was 20mph but this year if the wind is 25mph I’m riding.

I got a 6 mile ride in around the lake in spite of the sunny 78° day with 10mph breeze. 😎

Lunch ride. I didn't have a planned destination, I just winged it. 16miles, 1600ft in 1 hr 10. Drizzle and wet roads heading up Kings Mtn Road. then into Huddart Park, which I have never ridden to before.

Wow! Beautiful place to ride!

essiemyra 02-26-26 05:52 PM

I left the house at 8:30 this morning for a 25.4 mile ride. The temp was low 50's with partly

cloudy skies, pleasant riding conditions.

Lotsa twos and sixes for 2/26/26. I did not plan it this way but I rode for 1:22:22 and 16.66 miles.

I couldn't see the entire lake from here but I saw only one house left out there. Hope the owner gets it off the lake in time.

Spring is springing

I spent a week dog-sitting for one of my kids. At the dog's house. Flatter terrain around that location. My 'Old-Old man bike' has served as their kid hauler for a number of years - but will be reclaimed before too long. Got out 3 times for quick errands.

Saddle will need to be raised and I'm planning a change to 700c wheels. Fenders will be black.

Gonzo Bob 02-27-26 05:22 PM

Winds were 22mph gusting to 36mph but it was "warm" (45F) and highs will be back down around 20F for the weekend so I got out for about 2 hours and now my quads really ache :)

We didn't get a lot of snow this year so these folks decided to improvise.

essiemyra 02-27-26 05:31 PM

I got out this morning a little later than I had hoped but was out on the road by 9:00 am and rode for 19.6 miles. The bridge on the bike path is out due to work being done on the other side of the bridge so I had to find different roads to get where I wanted. Hopefully the work will be done by next week. I'm not loving my work around.

Nearing the end of Winter finally. I didn't really want to post my trainer or stationary bike rides. Doc said I can ride until the stent surgery then I will be laid up for a month. Only walking. Did 20 miles today. Mostly in town.

Yesterday, 18 miles put me over 300 ytd. Most of 20 inches of snow from Hernando has melted. Coastal Delaware has been having a very winter-like, winter.

45 miles and 3,500' with local bike club. 15 of us ranging in age from 30s to me as the probably the oldest at 71. It was billed as a climbing ride and it lived up to its name. Managed to keep the pace and was a strong climber with all my local training. Hit 40 on one downhill. Great fun with wonderful people. No photos since we didn't stop much.

Gonzo Bob 03-01-26 02:35 PM

Noodled around for about 1:10 since it was a nice, sunny day with light winds. Went to the dam to see if the ped walkway is open (was supposed to open yesterday) but it wasn't, so noodled to a park a few miles downriver to check it out. Saw a couple of swans on the river there.

Short ride (17 miles) today. Nice to be back on the bike after a nasty sinus infection last week. Mostly sunny and 70 degrees! :)

Grumpy old man mode:

1. If my GPS recorded all the bumps and potholes, I'd have made the 50 feet of climbing to 1,000 feet today. And another thousand feet. But the road crews are milling one of the better streets on this route, a street that close to median for roughness in my town. Grumble.

2. Why is it, when I'm waiting to turn left a few yards from a traffic light, the nearest car is slowing down because they figure the light will turn red before they get there; and the car that started 100 yards back is gunning it because they don't care -- so I have to idle slowly waiting for them both to go by? Harumph. :notamused:

essiemyra 03-01-26 05:08 PM

I got out this morning for a 20 mile ride and only ended up with 19 miles. I don't know where I lost the 20th mile. I thought I had it. I took a different route today and it was quite pleasant.

And the sky is blue. So what? I have real carbon, real aluminum, and steel.

The thread asks if you rode your bike today, not about your metallurgical knowledge. ;)

I rode 22 miles with MrsRSbob today. She was on aluminum and I was on plastic. My 'real' bike was left hanging like a bat in the garage.

essiemyra 03-02-26 04:56 PM

I left the house earlier than usual and rode for 22 miles so I am not in a deficit from yesterday. The temp was in the mid 60's when I left the house. Note the new rear tire I had to put on the bike yesterday afternoon, no more leaks from now on.
