54 miles, 68 degrees when i left, 72 with some cold wind blasts on the last half of the trip home. Wind kicked up to about 9 to 17 mph head wind of course. After reaching my 26 mile turn around point and starting my return trip was stopped by a lady who had dropped her jacket and did not know where. I had seen her on top of Santa Fe Dam on my way to my turn around point, she waved hi as we passed each other. I told her i would look for it and if i saw it would bring it back to her. Told her to wait and off i went. I found it after a mile or so. Picked it up and turned around and went back as fast as i could. She was not where i left her, so on i went until i caught up to her. She was on a heavy mb and wanted to rest in the shade and not stay in the sun. She was very trim and in her mid seventies. The jacket matched her outfit very well and she was very happy to get her jacket back. So we parted ways, she happy to get her jacket and me happy to help a lady in distress. Shot my return time all to hell but still felt good.

Forgive me for I had not ridden since New Year's Day. Then, yesterday it got into the upper 30's and the ice/snow on our streets melted. So I got in a 2 mile ride after work. Pretty impressive, huh?
Snow tonite and tomorrow and then gawdawful cold. Brand new tandem remains in the garage unridden.
Back to the trainer.
Is it almost Spring yet? Please!

It hasn't been all that cold in S. Michigan, but for some reason it goes right through every coat I have. I got in a single 9-mile ride between Christmas and New Year's, and that's been it. Started lap swim class this week, though; so at least I'll get some exercise.

Went out but ended up riding my 3 mile running route. Just another cold, damp, cloudy and windy January guitar playin' kinda day.
But I got out.

18 miles on the tandem with a few short steep pitches. First day of my resolve to work harder on any climbing; We worked like dogs on a short 11-13% pitch in less than our lowest gear and stoker didn't complain (until afterwords). Oh, and it was cold, probably 50 degrees with some wind.

Had the day off Wednesday for an out of town appointment. Got home in time to enjoy a nice, sunny day. Temps in the upper 50s. Got in a 23 mile ride wearing shorts and short sleeves. A little cool, but it felt great.

65 Windy miles. Nearly killed me off. I'm getting more of a pansy every year. I feel like I did a century and a half. Dang wing got me both ways. How does it do that. I guess the wind was just out to get me.

I rode to my therapist today. She wasn't there. Grr! From there, I rode to a client and delivered her external hard disk. I'm a computer consultant, and she hired me to copy her stuff off her old, crashed laptop onto the external disk.

On the way home, I took this picture. How silly to have two signs with redundant information!

2 hours on the trainer for me tonight doing the workout I missed yesterday with the trainer class. My wife was on the elliptical at the same time resulting in watching her DVR'd Biggest Loser.

55 miles, 68 to 75 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, wind kicked up at the last few miles. Just a great day to ride. Went up San Gabriel canyon entrance. Had no energy the whole day. Tried to maintain the pace i had on Wednesday but no dice. So i just tried to enjoy the day, which i did.
Just finished my Chocolate Milk shake, yum yum. Still no energy but i feel a lot better. Maybe some pizza and beer for dinner to help me carbo load for tomorrow, ya, that's the ticket.

I was all loaded up to ride but it's just too cold for me. I just don't enjoy riding below 45º especially when there is no chance of it getting near 40º. I'll start a ride in the low 30s if it will warm up. This winter has really been awful. That's two in a row. Sux.

Too many projects today, although the weather's not too bad (mid-40s). Definitely tomorrow: mid-50s forecasted with light winds! And all the snow/ice mess is finally gone.

It was cold today (37F, 3C) but I went out anyway. Got all of 7 miles before I gave up and turned around so 14 miles for the day. Did I mention it was COLD?

Got to meet Fred. Drove over with the bike in the car cuz it had a flat. 10 minutes total riding but it's a start. Fred is kind, patient, has great stories and is a wonderful teacher and knows a ton of stuff about bikes.

30 miles with some friends that we've reconnected with after 20+ years. They are both somewhat fit, but don't cycle consistently. Gave each a ride on the back of the tandem at the end of the ride and I think they are interested in moving to the dark side It was a nice change of pace from club rides which do tend to forgo much in the way of socializing. Our friends couldn't believe how quickly we picked up speed on downhills (we're a 350 lb. team) and we weren't pedaling. Weight does have its advantages

First metric century

First metric century today! Rode with my stepson (first metric century for him also) 64 miles from Friendswood to Rosharon, Danbury and back. Started off a little cold but warmed up to 60 after 30 miles. I think I'll sleep well tonight!

Took a ride to find the local recumbent shop here in C. Springs, LOL forgot my map and never did find it, oh well I'll try again later, it was a strange and WINDY day, for 20+ minutes I was in the middle of a "GROPPLE" storm!! That's what the weatherguesser's call the "tiny little ice balls" not hard enough to be hail here. Man the wind was howling, I was getting these "ice balls" whipped at me and it was hard to see! After that the Sun came out but the wind stayed so I headed back home, 32 miles RT and the EZ-1 SX Recumbent did a decent job against the wind!

Temp just bumped above freezing for an instant today, but winds were light and mild. Did 20 miles on partially snow packed roads, ate, then took a good nap.

It's too cold to ride today, but I decided that I had to ride anyway and found that it was in fact not too cold. 27 leisurely miles on snow-packed trails with 4 hardy club members, with a stop for lunch. It was -4°F when I left the house at 10:30, but by 2 PM when I returned home it had warmed up to a toasty 12 °.

Generally I try not to ride below 10°F, but my low threshold just got lower. It wasn't windy and there was some sun - with the right gear, it was very pleasant indeed.
